Wonderful cream teas. Also exceptionally good gluten free scones. Friendly service.

We booked for lunch through Quandoo. We popped in before going for a walk to change our reservation time, and staff were very friendly and helpful. We returned from our walk and were seated but the restaurant was really really busy- they have a lot of outdoor seating ( and it was half term) It took a while to get menus and even longer for orders to be taken. Drinks took a long time to arrive, and our request for fizzy water was forgotten twice. The inside restaurant was heaving with people coming in and walking past our table to use the toilets ( long queues backed up into the dining area) Also people ordering food from outside have to use the bar area near the front entrance, so it was a chaotic mix of people coming in and out for the loo, people queuing to order food and drinks and staff trying to get through the crowds with food orders. When our food came - it was excellent. I had a pork belly salad, my partner mousakka, and we both had a glass of english wine. The orange and pomegranate sponge for desert was gorgeous. I think Clavells is a victim of its own success, the food is great, the staff are lovely but the layout of the restaurant doesn’t work and spoils the dining experience. My advice is to go for dinner- hopefully it would be quieter then!

It was a pleasant part of a very interesting day spent in a beautiful part of Dorset.

Busy and therefore somewhat noisy with limited toilet facilities. But the location, friendliness and atmosphere is a great positive along with good tasty food. It is a place that we have been to before and given its location and the food we will return again - probably many times!!

Lovely setting, friendly and wholesome food. The setting in Kimmeridge is delightful with beautiful scenery and wonderful walks nearby. To top the lot there is a fossil museum right opposite the restaurant

Sunday Lunch for 5 - Pork with all the trimmings... very nice followed by Sticky Toffee Pudding... very nice again, but one thing that stands out at this restaurant is the service; it is exceptional, with very friendly, helpful staff and even with a full house the timings for service were very reasonable, and the food kept a high standard. Well done and thank you all at Cavells!

Found this place on the internet and we booked online and drove out from Broadstone for a mid week lunch on the coldest day of the year so far. 18 people in for lunch when we were there which is pretty impressive for somewhere so remote at this time of year. Very friendly staff, menu exactly as shown on their website. Very arrived quickly, was very fresh and very hot. Decent choice of drinks. Comfortable and warm on a winters day. Definitely will be back.

A very welcoming place to eat. A little disappointed that one dish was not available and one of the dessert did not come up to expectations. Otherwise we enjoyed our visit and will return, probably at a less busy time

Great food as always. A real Purbeck Gem!. Always a friendly welcome and in a great location for the excellent Fossil Museum opposite and a day out in Kimmeridge.

The food was really good but we were enchanted by the obvious delight the staff had in their jobs! Wish we lived near enough to visit frequently but we are on holiday!

A beautifully quaint restaurant in a wonderful village called Kimmeridge on the south dorset coast. Excellent food and great friendly service, we will definitely be back.

Very enjoyable cocktails, chosen from a long interesting list. Followed by a crab lunch that was delicious. Chosen from a varied menu. Would definitely recommend a visit.

7 out of 8 enjoyed their meals. Great restaurant. Service was a bit hit & miss. Started very good. It was v busy. Didn't clear our table for 15-20mins after main meal. A bit hard to miss a large table however I would still recommend for evening meal. Lovely place & friendly staff.

Excellent service, delicious food. Have wanted to visit for a long time and it was definitely worth the wait. Would highly recommend to all, including families.
