Delicious tasty tapas and warm friendly service. We were a party of four people, with my mother, having a family reunion for lunch before christmas. A great restaurant to meet up and had a good time together. I would go again.
This has changed hands, for the worse. Overpriced food and drink, poor service and mediocre cooking made this a poor experience. Tuna was from a tin, tart was burnt and tapas portions were small.
Clearly a busy place but with the exception of the squid and the chicken liver with sherry tapas plates i can't say the food was particularly memorable. Whilst the service was pleasant the staff weren't particularly attentive and as guests left the restaurant it became noticeably chilly.
Excellent food, as always, and good selection of Spanish wines. But sadly the quality of the service did not match the quality of the food.
Though the restaurant was crowded, we were well taken care of - moved to a quieter table as per earlier request. Good is very good, atmosphere warm and pleasant.
Staff overly busy so had to fight to order and get the bill. And one of the main dishes turned up cold, so had to be sent back
Very overpriced and service not very good. No atmosphere. Better go to the Norfolk Arms. It’s not far away, it’s far more fun, the menu is more interesting, and it’s a lot cheaper.
We had a really great evening. The food was of excellent quality and very well presented. The staff was friendly. It really busy but the service was very good.
Staff always friendly but professional. Excellent choice of Spanish food and drinks. Decor very plain but stylish. Good setting with views onto Lambs Conduit Street.
Nice atmosphere but overpriced. Small portions even for tapas. Better alternatives at this price point. Interiors tired. Wait staff were friendly if not particularly efficient.
Brisk service from friendly and attentive waiters. All food freshly prepared and with good distinctive flavours. Desserts certainly appeared to be prepared in-house rather than bought in. A very good meal.
You should definitely try it when you have the chance. I highly recommend it. Great Spanish food, very tasty.
Great. Terrific value lunch menu; we delegated wine choice and were rewarded with a brilliant smoky Portuguese chardonnay (believe it), and fresh young tempranillo, each exceptional value and leaving us wanting more. Also they didn't throw us out when we ran on after 16:00. Relaxed, cool, what not to like?
Our first visit to Cigala. Very good food. Red wines a little expensive although white and rose more reasonable. Enjoyed our set meal. Good, friendly service.
Excellent, delicious tapas and an interesting wine list. Spartan, 70's decor which appealed to me but was dismissed by my guest. Small and cosy. Between us we had quite a few dietary restrictions but its easy to get around with this wide-ranging menu that appeals to both omnivores and vegetarians. Service was grumpy--my guest arrived about 15 minutes late and we had time to thoroughly discuss the menu, decide on wine and wait before she decided to ask for service--she was asked if she needed the bathroom.... she said no, she would like to order wine, and that we'd waited for some time, the manager retorted that she'd just arrived! The food was good enough to overrule this mis-hap and I will go back again.
Cigala had brilliant friendly and fast service. There was a great selection of food on the menu, which was delicious. Reasonable cost - will visit again!
On a cold Sunday afternoon it was a bit quiet so the ambience was a little flat but service was good & the tapas were very tasty. It was also nice not to have background music so we could hear one another easily. Maybe during the week or at lunchtimes it’s livelier. Couldn’t fault the food though.
Food is always excellent at Cigalas. Love the tapas with the pan con tomate, said and shrimp dishes our favourites. Will happily return again and again.
Very willing service and good food. The paella was excellent although far more than two people could eat but it arrived well within the 30 wait time indicated.
Delicious tapas served quickly with no fuss by friendly staff. You will have an enjoyable time in a very congenial restaurant. Mushroom croquettas recommended. Not expensive.
Excellent food. Great service. Very happy with every dish. Octopus; and meat croquettes particularly good. Have recommended to a Spanish friend so watch this space!
Great restaurant! Legit Spanish / Mediterranean food. The home made icecream is really good too! Croquetas were wonderful. Classy place, not too pretentious. I would return, and I recommend it
Our meal was tasty and varied. Two of us ate from the tapas menu, one from the fixed price dinner option. Prices were reasonable, service was friendly, the wine list has plenty of interesting options from Spain and Portugal. We drank a Terra Alta white and a Terra Alta read: both new discoveries. We will happily return at some point.
Went as a large group. Great service, atmosphere and food is delicious. I have been here many times over the last 10 years. Fantastic restaurant.
Good local restaurant serving Spanish food; interesting wine list with good selection of Ribera del Duero wines; fast lunch menu was exactly that; always seems busy
Really nice neighbourhood Spanish restaurant in Bloomsbury , not your usual tapas greasy spoon. Very friendly service and good wine list. The paella were delicious!
Full marks for the wonderful food - ranging from the simple and fresh spinach and raisin tapas, through to fantastic seafood. Wonderful selection of wines by the glass as well.
It was quite busy, but they dealt with us efficiently - decent house white wine, fresh fish well cooked, very good salad - enjoyable evening all round
As usual the food was wonderful, but the noise level was so bad we couldn't hear to talk. I hadn't been in at mid-evening before, and I won't come then again. Lunch is much better for conversation.
What a treat to have a restaurant that doesn't play music. We had a lovely and quiet dinner with excellent service. We will definitely go again.
What a friendly location great service and outstanding food served thank you
Not what it was. On a damp mid-August lunchtime, Cigala was also a bit damp. Slightly lifeless cooking. Slightly unconvincing ingredients. The acoustics were somehow worse than before. Probably just me getting older and grumpier. Perhaps just their midsummer lull. Hope it can recover its form. I shall certainly give it another chance.
It is a little expensive, but it is worth it as was definitely the best paella I've had in London! Plus good sangria too! Would visit again.
Lovely food and efficient service. The set menu was good value. Not cheap but one of the best ribeye steaks I have eaten! The plaice was also great. Will try the tapas next time.
Beautiful, authentic, quality, tasty food. Great atmosphere, tasteful decor. Glad I booked my table for 3, as it's popular and busy even on Tuesday evening!
Service was great, lovely food, lots of space. We shared the selection of puddings platter - and especially liked the orange dessert and the chocolate cake.
Service + atmosphere were fine, wine choice was good. Food was well balanced and pleasant in taste, but chicken livers were overdone, quail was overdone, both seafood and meat paella were overdone. Seafood was wood-dry, and there were two or three mussels in the paella that I wanted to be sent back to kitchen had I not have my guests with me. Perhaps the chef had their day off on Monday.
Wholesome, comfortable food and good service in a nice setting, in a interesting street scene. Always consistent. A good vibe ! We will be back.
The restaurant has declined drastically. Slack and graceless service, and food at best mediocre (meanly portioned, poorly sourced starters and astonishingly dry and unseasoned paella that would disgrace the most touristy parts of Barcelona). A shame.
Quiet Sunday, very friendy staff, well cooked bream and piri chicken some nice wine all for a reasonable price (for central London). Would go again
Food great and atmosphere too. Just a bit of a wait to order. Its not the cheapest place to eat but worth it. Lovely to sit outside.
Good service - food good but chicken kebab tough and not very edible. Sitting outside was very pleasant but disrupted by pavement musicians who were too close and loud.
Offers a great wine selection and we enjoyed a delicious paella. Service was attentive and the restaurant had a nice vibe, lively and busy. Recommended.
Superb Tapas (salt cod fritters snd creamy croquettes) and seafood paella. And cool Spanish beer on tap on a very hot day. Will certainly return.
Charming staff, excellent food and efficient service. The space could have been a bit more accommodating, but it was not really a problem. We enjoyed our meal.
We chose Tapas which were excellent and followed with dessert, also very good. Ours was a business lunch, so we did not have a lot of time to linger: we had to chase to get someone to take our order for the dessert and also for the bill, which we paid in the restaurant as there was a delay in the waiter returning with the credit card machine for payment
One of our favourite places. Consistent quality and service. Dependanble tapas, and good wines by the glass. Sometimes a little noisy, so not good for quiet intimate chatting.
Good food , with range of dishes. Seafood paella was delicious. Competitive prices and one person in group had set menu which was very good value. Interesting wine list. Service was very good. Perhaps a little lacking in atmosphere.
Excellent food - including some creative items you won't see at other tapas restaurants- with fast, friendly service. I make a point to dine at Cigala at least once each time I visit London.
One of my all time favourite eateries, this bright airy space so beautifully design and with the lightest of detailing that if you blinked you would miss it or misunderstand its intention. The staff are always friendly and show a very good knowledge of their menu. The real star at Cigala and rightly so is the food, the decore and the waiters are are there to accommodate, enhance and deliver a wonderful meal and possibly a perfect evening.
