Chime - Hartford

My wife and I enjoyed 2 very nice pizzas for the price of 1 on their Monday night offer. Had a good bottle of Merlot which was pricey compared to most restaurants in the area. I am sure some customers will buy single glasses of wine rather than a bottle at their prices. A couple of £s less and I bet they'd sell more bottles? Service was very good and the ambience relaxed.

Food was really good, very tasty. Staff efficient and friendly.

Nice restaurant and bar. The 2 for 1 on pizzas was a great surprise!

Food was really pretty poor and very expensive. Nachos starters are £6:50 per portion for probably less than 15 crisps! Roast beef main course was totally ruined by ridiculously salty gravy + no yorkshire puddings. Steaks were excessively fatty and supposed to be pink but were more well done. Over £130 for 2 adults and 2 children and unfortunately none felt they had enjoyed a nice meal.

There was a good atmosphere, good food and pleasant staff.

Very pleasant Lighting too bright, was anxious would trigger a migraine Turned down at 5 pm which was much more relaxed

Tried some of the dishes off the new menu! Lovely food. And some of the new cocktails were great too!!

Prefer a menu of starters and main rather than small plates. Really like chilli beef but not available as a main so had to order two tapa sized. Unfortunately acoustics are not brilliant so it can be difficult to hear across the table. However, we enjoyed the evening and the food and will return.

The food was very good and nice to have such a variety including vegan food.

Staff very nice and friendly, food very good. However didn’t like the high level of the music. Music was good at beginning of evening but just a bit too loud, asked waitress to turn it down slightly but don’t think they did. And I was told the music level goes up later in the evening, which it did ( music type not good, more Ibiza night club) . Hence moved on to the red lion for a drink where we could hear each other chat... Some people may say oh just another old person complaining again about music! But we were a group of ladies between 36-40 yrs in age.

Nice atmosphere. Cocktails tasty. Food is nice although the 4hour braised beef is not very easy on the eye , chicken wings were tiny and didn’t have much meat on and they could put more effort into the chips but the crispy chilli beef is tasty

2nd visit since new menu has been brought in. Food lovely, once again ordered too much! Service was a lot better despite being busier than last visit. Will be returning very soon!

Food, drinks and service brilliant... Music was great as well, perfect for a Friday night.

Initial welcome was warm and friendly. First drinks came very quickly, however once food had been served, the attentiveness dipped, and had to keep asking for drinks, which would be ok if staff were really busy, it wasn’t overly busy. Plus side- new menu is great! Only need 3 dishes per person not 4, unless you are starving!!

Great food and service . Table of 5 ladies after our visit to Chester Races Ladies Day. Table downstairs was a bit draughty when food kept opening so we sat with our coats on.

I never like putting all top marks for a review. But with the experience we had in Chime I can not do anything else. The service was exemplary, the food exceptional and the restaurant fantastic. From the moment we came in we were served with charm, humour and efficiency. Unlike other restaurants, when my beer was getting empty I was asked if I would like another one, rather than waiting for someone to notice us as happens elsewhere. I liked the fact that, like tapas, you could order small plates of different dishes (I had 4 for the main course), all we delicious.

Menu poor, staff didnt know we were upstairs, so poor communication to waiting staff. One member of staff just seems to be on ipad at bar when there are guests waiting to be served. I have observed her doing same before. Doesnt give right impression. Cobwebs hanging off blinds. I believe its up for sale. Looks like owners have lost interest.
