Chequers Inn

A lovely village pub serving very tasty food, attentive staff, lovely atmosphere. We have eaten here on a couple of occasions and would definitely recommend it to others

Food was great, we had a lovely evening. We always enjoy th friendly atmosphere. We have visited many times before. Also the quiz night is good.

Considering it was Monday, there was a welcoming atmosphere. The food was excellent , both choice and quality, served by a delightful, attentive young lady.

Excellent selection of good local food coupled with friendly service. This is a good country pub within easy reach of large towns and cities. Highly recommended

Excellent meals and service to match. The steak and ale pie was one of the best I have tasted and was very well presented at lunch

Had the champagne tea at chequers as a treat for myself and my wife. So much gorgeous food! And in a lovely setting as well, a brilliant way to pass the afternoon.

We were shown to our reserved table when we arrived and received very good service. Excellent Sunday lunch. One of the best lunches we have had and will definitely return. Good choice of wines at reasonable prices.

Excellent meal. Would certainly go again. Staff were very good and service second to none. Slight complaint was handled very professionally and to our total satisfaction.

Classic Pub food very well done, Gammon & chips, pie and chips were very nice! Staff vey friendly and in a nice setting! All in all good food good value!!

Went to the Chequers for a business Christmas lunch, 3 of us had the Christmas menu (duck, gorgeous) the other ten had either the burger or the sausage and mash. All of us commented on how beautiful the food was, the staff were excellent and we will be back!

Excellent choice of food and also Italian menu.Could not manage a starter as the main meals were large. Had to wait a little while for the meals as there was a large number of people in the restaurant and only 2 serving.Good choice of meals that could be adapted to make them gluten free. The men said the beer was on form and the ladies could recommend the large choice of gins. Tom was delightful as always.

Myself and four friends visited here again~~~the food was excellent,service very good [young staff, very polite and friendly], in fact we have already booked again for next month.We are already looking forward to that evening.

Warm welcome, excellent service and great food and wine. Lamb's liver cooked beautifully and friends fish and chips equally delicious. Forgot to mention the squid rings as a starter were nice and crunchy, just as they should be.

Our group of four travelled to The Chequers Inn on Bank Holiday Monday for an early evening meal. They apparently had a very busy lunch time session and two of our original choices were not available from the menu, fish and chips and "not so famous" steak and ale pie. Must have been good to run out by 5.30. Nevertheless, all of our new choices were excellent and more than met our needs. Good team of staff were on hand at the bar and in the restaurant

We went to celebrate my sons and dad birthdays. Steak Pie all round and they were fantastic, Service really good Will definitely be visiting again soon Thanks

The food was ok but nothing special, portions too large for my liking and quite a lot of field flies about which I remember was a problem last time we went to this pub.

Great two course Sunday lunch for family. Service was excellent, food well prepared and real ale in good condition. Good value lunch. We will certainly return again.

It is worth making the 70-mile round trip for the excellent food and service at Chequers Inn. Always good, they haven't failed us yet. Good beer too!

Lovely location, welcoming staff, imaginative menu. Room was very minimalist but was all we needed for a one night stay. We would definitely recommend The Chequers..

Country pub with pleasant atmosphere. Menu better than most with good portions. Very friendly and attentive staff. Definitely one of the best places to eat in this area.

Stayed one night in this delightful Inn , the staff were really friendly . Couldn't fault the food or anything about the accommodation. We would like to say thank you Tom for his help .

Normally the food here is really good. Unfortunately last night is was not. The fish was very dry as were the steak pies. Not to your normal standard.
