This is a lively little place down a side road in Kingsheath. The staff were welcoming and friendly and seated us straight away (despite being early!). The food smelt amazing and tasted even better! Unfortunately the food was so good we ate it all and had no room left for desert! Next time...we will make sure to try and leave some room...
Great selection of tapas, all well cooked, efficient and friendly service, excellent value for money. 2 guitarists were performing, which was good although as it's such a small restaurant, it was difficult to hear conversation at times. However, would definitely go again.
Fantastic food and nice, laid back service. A decent price too for a good amount of tapas and some beers at a local independent. Will definitely visit again!
As always excellent food! Service a little slow, the restaurant had expanded since I was last there, took me a while to attract attention, maybe because i was sat at the back??
The tapas was delicious and the service was friendly, helpful and quick! The only issue was wanting to order the entire menu as it all sounded good. Will be returning!
Went here for birthday meal. Good food as always and decent value considering how much food we had. Restaurant busy but atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.
Excellent authentic food and service as usual. The best Tapas in Birmingham in my opinion. I would not hesitate to eat here again or recommend to anyone.
My partner treated me to a meal here for my birthday. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly, attentive staff and the food is amazing. Would very highly recommend!
Everything was delicious with a wide range of cuisines to choose from. Excellent service as well! I would definitely recommend, but good idea to make a reservation. It's a small and intimate place.
The Restaurant was great, as it always is. However they had no record of my booking via Quandoo so a bit embarrassing on arrival, however the restaurant were extremely accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We recommend the Slow cooked Belly Pork
The food was good, in appropriate size portions, and the service was friendly. No complaints, I will go back to this restaurant in the future!
The food was as lovely as ever. As usual we over ordered and subsequently waddled home. The service is good, only thing is, it is a small restaurant so it can feel cramped
Very pleasant. The food is currently better than it's ever been and the service is more than satisfactory. I look forward to going back there soon.
Excellent, friendly service, food was delicious, varied and authentic as always. Would recommend it to friends and family for tapas, lunch or an evening meal.
I always love Byzantium but there are a few new additions to the menu now, as well as the old favourites. Coupled with friendly service and a great Portuguese red...
Great food, lots of choice on the menu with some tasty specials. Flatbread and dips to start were lovely. service was good with friendly staff. Tables were very close together, but all good!
Excellent food as ever, with the Belly Pork and Lamb Souvlaki standing out; good ambience despite being early on a Tuesday evening and a good value Spanish Red. The dessert - a Catalan Crème Brulee - was the best I've had for some time. We will be back there before too long.
Good range of tapas dishes all well cooked. Great to see there are always some new dishes on menu. Lovely atmosphere and excellent service. Definitely recommended
Really fantastic food as always. Service was quite slow as it was busy but still really good and great value. Soft drinks should be cold though. Not just luke warm with ice supplied.
The restaurant was very quiet when we visited at lunchtime mid week. However, the food was nice with interesting dishes, we had the special lunch menu which had a good selection to choose from, we had six different tapas and flat bread we came out stuffed.
Lovely - as usual. Good selection although do miss the chicken in the creamy sauce (with sherry?). Staff welcoming and friendly. Suitable for older children too as it was my daughter's 10th birthday and she loves it here.
Excellent food and friendly service as ever - they need to increase the kitchen staff to cope with the new extra covers upstairs as we waited quite some time for our food. Otherwise great.
Good food, good company, unfortunately we felt as though they were rushing us.... Perhaps because we were three on a table for four...and two wheelchairs...but this shouldn't have made any difference to the service.
Lovely food, friendly staff. Good variety of dishes to cater for all tastes. The wine choice also good and not too expensive. Will definitely return.
Fabulous atmosphere with the freshest and most delicious food. Service is so friendly and it's one of my favourite restaurants. There is parking on the road, so overall - perfect. You must book, it's always full and busy.
Food was okay, not brilliant but pleasant enough. Service not the greatest but not the worst either. Non-alchoholic drink options poor when compared to rival tapas restaurants in Birmingham. Nice place though, clean and good ambiance.
Great atmosphere. Generous wine measures. Friendly, efficient service. We had a a lovely time! The reason it's not a 6/6 is that the food wasn't quite as good as last time I visited.
Good food and great service, we will be back. If I were to think of one niggle it would be that we felt like they wanted our table turned around quickly as we were in and out in under an hour including dessert, we had hoped the experience would be a little longer.
A good evening as ever; it was great to see the restaurant so busy and bustling on a Tuesday night. Food great as ever, with the Sea Bream a particular favourite, washed down with a Portuguese Red. Good service and a great atmosphere made for a lovely evening.
This is a lovely little place with comfortable surroundings. the service was superb very attentive without being obtrusive. All the food was gorgeous and very reasonably priced ! I will definitely be dining here again
As always lovely food and good service. My husband was very happy to see the chicken livers back on the menu by popular demand. Thank you!
Byzantium is a great little restaurant. The decor is warm and welcoming, as are the staff. The food was fantastic! We started with the flat bread - freshly baked and so light and delicious that it disappeared in seconds. We had a selection of tapas, all of which were cooked perfectly especially the pork served in balsamic vinegar. To finish we shared a tiramisu which was light and creamy. All in all a really lovely meal.
Had a nice evening here. Really pleasant ambiance and the service was good. There was a god variety of dishes and the food was pleasant. Value for money.
Great little place, very intimate, super food and lovely helpful staff. Check out the aubergine dip, bean, artichoke and goats cheese tapas. The chicken livers in sherry and cream were wonderful. Will be back
My family and I eat at Byzantium frequently and this was the first time that we had experienced an Italian themed evening and I have to say they did not disappoint. The dishes were fantastic, all of our plates went back clean to the kitchen, the staff were welcoming as usual.
Again, another really lovely night out, for myself and 3 friends, delicious food and friendly staff. Easily booked online too. We'll definitely be back soon
lovely evening and atmosphere!! service was great and very helpful!! food is delicious and well worth a visit. great evening and a catch up with the ladies. Xx
Good food and great service. Very well priced. The wine list isn't stupidly expensive. Would definitely recommend that you check out the specials. Lovely flat breads
Not as good as it used to be. Some of the potatoes were barely cooked. The croquettes were under-seasoned and barely had any cheese in them. The king prawns were mushy and gross.
It is a small quaint restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The food was fantastic and somewhere we would certainly eat again. The service could not be faulted with a very welcoming and enjoyable experience throughout.
Food was lovely, good choice with both more traditional tapas and some modern twists. Service was generally good bit would prefer not to be next to the door especially when arriving to a fairly empty restaurant and overall and enjoyable evening!
A pleasant evening as ever; the restaurant seems much warmer these days - no need to wear your coat to eat. Good selection of food, quick service, pleasant wine and no crazy prices. The Patatas Bravas were particularly good - we hadn't tried those for a while - and we tried the selection of Olives which we'd not had before and they were great to start with. Friendly service and good prices - can't beat it on a Tuesday evening.
We really enjoyed the food. It is excellent. The place is a little disorganised. Our online booking had been missed off their list. But we were grateful that they found us a table. I would recommend Byzantium.
Small and intimate venue with a lovely atmosphere and fantstic music. Service was very good, the waitresses were polite and courteous. Will definately visit again.
Delicious as always and the staff are always very friendly. A great local restaurant. Thank you Byzantium for another lovely evening, I will be going back again on saturday.
Great food and ambience in the restaurant. Would recommend the croquettes, best we've ever had! The mushrooms and aubergine weren't as fancy as described. Would definitely come again!
We have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions. Food is always lovely, belly pork and the flat bread with dips are a highlight for us. Great atmosphere and reasonably priced.
Excellent food and service as ever. The wine was good value and there was a good atmosphere all evening. Would always recommend Byzantium to friends.
It was our first visit to the restaurant. It was a birthday celebration and they didn't let us down. Fab food, Fab atmosphere and Excellent service I will definitely be going back there again. have already recommended it to friends.
My wife & I have dined here on numerous occasions as the place and staff are lovely. The food is always delicious. Our favourite restaurant by far. Our bill is normally £50- £60 per couple with drinks. Excellent value!
