Very tasty and wide range of tapas. Will definitely go again next time I'm in the area. The wine was also resonably priced and staff very friendly.
Well worth a visit. Doesn't look much from the outside but they offer a great range of dishes of quality food at good value and with a friendly team serving.
The food was great & so was the service, disappointed with the lack of puddings, we asked for the menu & they only had vanilla ice cream or affogato ( basic ice cream with coffee) Not good enough, I understand it was a Monday & not many people eat out early on the week.
Just an informal meal with my daughter and partner which was great because of the friendly informal nature of the service. Staff were attentive and friendly. Food was lovely. Always enjoy coming here.
Really cosy venue. Welcoming warm staff. The lamb tagline was great. I will be back as will the friends I was dining with. Very good value too. Thanks.
Amazing food and staff. The food is delicious and the staff are very nice and always helpful. It is also very reasonably priced. Will go again.
A fabulous, compact and bijou restaurant with marvellous food and lovely staff - it's a place that we'll go back to again and again. Book. Go. Enjoy.
I really enjoyed my recent visit to Byzantium, the tapas are great, I especially enjoyed the goats cheese, broad beans and artichoke tapas and the flat bread
Fantastic service though as the restaurant got busy you could see the 2 waiters were run off their feet and could've done with another lie of hands! Amazing food as always.
We came as a group of seven for a birthday meal. Really enjoyed it. Lovely lovely food and great sangria. Would def go again. Cool little place
Excellent food and atmosphere. BUT we arrived at 7.45 on a Tuesday evening and had to wait till 8.30 for our food, although the drinks arrived a little (but not a lot) earlier. There was only one waiter and he was very busy. He was very apologetic when he came over to us. He certainly wasnt slacking but could have done with a colleague to help him. I don't know if its always like this as this was our first visit and despite the wait, we would go back again as the food was excellent and very good value.
As ever Byzantium has tasty food, attentive staff and a lovely atmosphere - a wonderful place for dinner. Would recommend for both dinner two or larger groups.
The food was delicious and plentiful. The service was friendly and helpful. We were a party of three and stayed chatting for ages, past closing time but were not hurried at all. Would definitely recommend Byzantium.
Lovely food which was very tasty, awesome tapas and helpful and friendly staff. And very competitively priced. The £25 meal deal is amazing value. I will be returning!!
Such brilliant food! Great atmosphere too. I highly recommend this, especially for social gatherings, through there are several quiet books and crannies for quieter diners.
Food was excellent. We have really enjoyed our visit. The only downside was that there is no parking and off-road parking on Saturday evening in this area was difficult.
A very pleasant independently run restaurant in Kings Heath. We went on Friday, and our group of six was well catered for. All enjoyed the food, wine and ambience. Even though the restaurant was full by the time we received our food, the service was good.
Lovely restaurant, excellent food and atmosphere. In the centre of Kings Heath, parking can be difficult, but lots of places for an early drink before going to Byzantium.
A pleasant atmosphere and very friendly service. We were given good advice about the number of dishes to order rather than encouraged to buy too many. The food was good, particularly the flatbread which I could have eaten all night!
Good food and good service - the hummus was a bit heavy on the garlic but otherwise overall it is was a very enjoyable evening
A little gem of a place. Great choices of dishes especially the king prawns and chorizo plates. No hesitation about booking again very soon.Staff a credit to their craft.Sue/Kev
Nice wine, quick and friendly service. The food is very nice, we had three starters, 6 mains and a pudding to share between two which was enough for us. With the wine I think it came to around £60 The restaurant was quite busy but had a nice atmosphere. We will visit again soon.
Excellent food and lovely staff- service can be a little slow when busy but that's to be excpected, especially given the fact that all food is prepared fresh.
Great food and atmosphere. Byzantium never disappoints! Staff could have been more attentive at the start of our meal, took about 10 minutes before we were offered a drink but minor details as had a good evening.
Great staff at this restaurant tucked away on York Road. Pub over the road is good for a drink. The menu is short but covers everything you would want fish, meat, veggie. All the dishes are good value, well presented and tasty.
Had a great evening with friends at Byzantium Tapas. Food was delicious and the ambience was lovely. Fab time all round and would definitely recommend for a great, relaxed evening.
Food was okay but didn't have several of the dishes on the menu (how can you run out of basic ingredients by 8:00pm on a Saturday?). Service was slow and it was nearly impossible to catch the waiter's eye to order a drink. Four out of six is on the generous side.
Our party chose 15 dishes from the great selection of dishes, all of which were delicious! The atmosphere was really warm and cosy. Can't wait for another excuse to visit Byzantium!
We have visited Byzantium several times over the years and sometimes it's wonderful and other times it's not as good. This time it was excellent and I feel that this is because it wasn't as busy. The food was delicious except for the chicken livers in a sherry sauce which used to be our favourite dish. We feel that they must have changed the recipe as the sauce is no longer as rich as it used to be and the livers themselves were over cooked. On the up side, the broad beans and artichoke were very good, as was everything we had. The wait staff were fairly good, although inexperienced. We will visit again.
We struggled to find the restaurant initially but managed to park in the street. Lovely food, relaxed atmosphere, very good service. We would certainly go back.
Excellent food, very reasonably priced. Only downside was that we had to wait 45 minutes after arriving to give our order. That said the food then arrived quickly and it was Saturday evening.
Lovely food and atmosphere. The only negative was that we bought a birthday cake and asked staff to bring it out numerous times but they kept on forgetting! Once they'd served us I think the staff forgot about us completely which was a bit disappointing. The meal was delicious though.
Excellent food served quickly to the table. Good value, spent under £50 for five dishes and a bottle of wine. The only gripe would be that for two people the tables are a little small for all the dishes. Very enjoyable experience would recommend.
The decor is ok and ambience good at front of restaurant. Service very good. Food choice also varied. Portions I think a little small for price.
Great food, with plenty of choice and a frequently chafed specials board. The staff are ery helpful and friendly and will give opinions about wined
Great restaurant with excellent service to match and of course lovely tapas dishes cooked superbly. Second visit and will definitely book again and also recommend to others.
fantastic tapas in a small but cute restaurant. service was slow even when people were leaving we still had to ask for more drinks and ask for the bill. it wouldn't out me off going back though as the food was lovely
Enjoyable evening, food was nice, although some of it was not that warm and you could tell was preheated, however still tasty. Still happy to recommend this place
Lovely little restaurant! Fantastic food and great service. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning and would recommend this place to all our friends 😊👍
We had the vegetarian options. Excellent variety, and all delicious. The house wine was also a really good choice. Very good vague too. We will be back.
An excellent range of freshly cooked tapas in the intimate surrounds of this cosy small scale restaurant. The friendly staff are very helpful and welcoming.
Food here is beautiful, atmosphere is great. It can get a little busy and the tables are a bit close together but they are a small restaurant and this often just adds to the atmosphere! Definitely recommend.
This is a lovely small restaurant on a side street from the main road, but the whole area has a great independent, slightly bohemian vibe. We were the first diners in at 6.45 which worried me. But it was only because of the time - it soon started filling up. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the food was pretty good. It was Spanish meets Greek meets Moroccan, and a sensible sized menu for food, and a much larger one for drinks. The flat bread to start was one of our favourite dishes, as it was made to perfection. The mains were all good. If being critical the courgette fritters were too big because that made them a lot soggier in the middle, and the croquettas were made with potato which I think is wrong. But we both absolutely loved the pork belly - well cooked, fat perfectly rendered and sat in a delicious balsamic sauce. We left feeling full, having enjoyed the atmosphere, savoured a nice independent experience and being well looked after.
Amazing food and superb service. I would reccomend this to anyone who loves Spanish Tapas. Excellent evening and I would go back anytime as the staff were very friendly.
Great food. Lovely menu. Good atmosphere. Parking a nightmare and staff friendly but slow. Haloumi skewers delish! Good for a week night spot. I'd recommend it.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Despite it being busy and short staffed, the service was good. Reasonably priced for tapas as well. A great place to go in Kings Heath!
Great dinner as always. A firm favourite for tapas. The food and wine is always good quality and at a reasonable price. Try to sit downstairs if you can.
Service is always excellent and food very tasty. Menu is varied and includes lighter meals such as Ligurian fish soup. The flatbread is delicious. There are cushions provided for the hard chairs.
Great Food and ambience..Excellent Service . As always great place to eat .I would recommend eating at this restauraunt if you are in Kings Heath .
Fab place, lovely food. Don't go there hungry though. The portions are not on the large side. Service and place is fab, Not sure if would return again, due to the portion sizes.
