Great selection of dishes, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Will be back soon! Wine was great but not a massive selection to buy by the glass.
Lovely tapas restaurant, portion sizes are larger than other tapas places we've eaten in. Good selection of vegetarian and meat options. Staff very attentive and welcoming.
Delicious tapas in a really good atmosphere- we sat in the downstairs, main restaurant section so not sure what out back/ upstairs is like. Good service and price is fair for tapas places, which always work out a bit more expensive than so called regular restaurants.
Lovely food although a little bit pricey for some of the dishes .Staff warm and welcoming very good service we look forward to going again .
First time to the restaurant. The food and service is good. We sat by the door where is is quite cold when the door opens.
We have been to the restaurant few times. The food & service has been excellent, but this time the food was cold & not to our taste. The taste was different as we think the menu has been changed and under new management. We did mention about the food before we left, but not sure if the message was passsed on or not.
Food was ok but service was awful. 30min from sitting to take a drinks order. Food didn’t arrive for over an hour after finally ordering. Not even an apology.
I visited here with my girl friends for a catch up. The food was Delicious. The staff are attentive and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. I will definitely be returning.
Was given a table by the door asked to change because it was cold and people were entering in and out. Food very nice, food took a while to come. Quite busy and service was nice.
Lovely food, great service. We felt bad as they didn’t have the facility to add a tip to the bill on the card machine, and the snow was too heavy to get to the cash machine
We have visited Byzantium before but were a little disappointed last time. However, our experience on this occasion was very good. Very prompt service. Excellent food, portions seemed slightly larger than before & the food was hot. Great to see Moroccan orange cake on the menu again, absolutely delicious.
Service very chaotic had to catch waiters attention repeatedly in order to be served. Extremely cold due to fact that door opened directly from street into restaurant - fine on a warm night but not when outside temp is -1. Overcharged on bill so do take care when paying. Food very good & value for money OK.
The restaurant was crowded and very cold as the door opens straight into the dining area and there is no barrier or screen. We were seated promptly but the tables are very close together and small which for a tapas restaurant with multiple plates of food seemed a little strange. The service was slow and chaotic. We had to ask for everything many times. We had to ask to have our drinks order taken as well as taking our food order. We asked for the bill at the end and waited at least 20 minutes. We finally gave up and paid at the counter. The food was ok - I have had better tapas but the service was appalling. Other people gave up and walked out as they could not get their order taken. Would not return or recommend.
Great food and service. Would defiantly recommend for a fab night out
Great food and service! Would definitely recommend to a friend!
Excellent variety of food, very fast, well cooked and a very attentive waiter Very good all round They forgot to charge for wine but we reminded them
We have frequented Byzantium over the years and sometimes it was great and sometimes it was decidedly average. Happily, when My partner and I went to Byzantium on St Valentine’s Day we were both pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by very friendly staff upon arrival and were treated to a complimentary glass of prosecco. The food was excellent; I would highly recommend the pork belly and the bastilla. The flat bread and olives were wonderful. We will definitely be back.
The food has always been good here but the new menu is sublime. It is consistently superb . I took my wife here for valentine's Day and we were both making those embarrassing noises that you make when amazing flavours hit your taste buds. I can't recommend Byzantium highly enough.
Atmospheric - if a little cold - venue with a great range of Mediterranean and Middle-eastern cuisines on offer. Food served was of a high quality. Good service.
Was not as good as when I went couple years ago. Has the management changed? Food was average, and took an hour to arrive despite not being very busy
Excellent, food and service, would definitely recommend! Restaurant was a bit chilly at 5:30pm (tho' probably warmed up later) which meant the red wine was cooler than I would have liked. Perhaps display one of each choice and keep stock in a warmer place.....
Great food. Very friendly serving staff, although long waits for food. Some items from the menu were not available, but what we did have was delicious.
Love this place, friendly staff, great food and nice chilled ambience. Pork belly and flatbreads were the highlights but it’s all lovely. Will be back soon.
We took advantage of the midweek special so our delicious and filling meal only cost us $14 between the two of us. Love this place.
Food was amazing, staff were really friendly, would definitely recommend and will certainly be back again
We received excellent service and food. Have been on a number of occasions before and will certainly be returning. Definitely recommend the breads and dips!
Really excellent independent restaurant, with very attentive staff, great interesting and unusual Tapas menu, and incredible value for money. Everyone should try it and support people like this who are a million miles better than the boring chains.
Great food, lovely welcome and service. An intimate setting perfect for a quiet moment to treat ourselves. The pork belly was sumptuous, as was the lamb. Highly recommended.
Lovely tapas with a good amount of variety, including vegetarian dishes. The flatbread is amazing, as is the hummus. Portion sizes were quite big so unfortunately we didn't feel up to having dessert afterwards.
Delicious food and courteous service! My second time here, I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for authentic Mediterranean food and a cosy atmosphere.
Great service. Good food although not the best we’ve eaten there. Would always recommend this as a great tapas restaurant though with a cosy, intimate atmosphere.
As always, great food and service. BUT, the heating system is totally inadequate and we were all cold. They have radiators on the walls but these are blocked by pew like benches so very little heat gets through. Not good! Also, a little Christmas spirit in the way of decorations would have been nice at this time of the year.
Great food and service as per usual, there's a reason a restaurant is full on a Tuesday night. The pork belly is to die for.
ARIVVED at 5-30 greeted an seated politely , simple dinning at its best , numerous starters, flatbread beautiful an light, mains, was pork generous 3 square chunks , so tasty, breaking as you cut into it, dressed in its own crackling, with a treacle sauce , divine ,. Large Langoustines, Moroccan lamb curry so tasty , finished off with crème burle brulee, an again a Moroccan pastry sweet, drinks included my bill came to £25 Each , excellent value for such a beautiful tasting meal, in romantic modest surroundings, great service , 3rd visit an for me it gets better each time
poor service poor food (cold & instead of replacing obviously same now microwaved portion returned!) & long waits-3 hrs from arrival to food being served.
Unfortunately my first experience wasn't great . It's a small venue which was very busy. Tables are very close together barely enough room for people to get to their seats. Barely enough room for waiting staff to serve food with one guy who could barely squeeze through the chairs and kept knocking into me. The time taken to serve food was an absolute disgrace myself and others waited between an hour and an hour and half for main dishes and drinks. Customer service was appalling too, one of the dishes was incorrect, we received the correct one half hour after we finished our meal. No apologies or recognition that there was a problem and several tables raised their concerns last night. The food was nothing special. No money off the bill for the inconvenience either. I won't be coming back
Always been our favourite tapas restaurant but waiting two hours for food without any explanation or apology is inexcusable. All it takes is an explanation and maybe the offer of a free drink but we got nothing. Our poor waitress had only just started working there and ended up guiding the other staff who were too busy giving food to the wrong tables. Utter shambles. Being made to feel uncomfortable for being the last people left in the restaurant didn't help either. We'd only just finished the delayed food and were waiting in vain for the bill!
Delicious as usual. Pork belly dish was our favourite, and the flat bread also a winner. Popular spot so busy on a Saturday night. Lovely evening
Well, ambience is nice and unusual, the food though is simply scrumptious, table just wasn't big enough.. Lol. Waiting staff polite and efficient, would like to eat here more ofter.
Quality lovely food, the only minor negative is that sometimes the service is a bit slow, however this is nit picking and the only reason its not a 6 out of 5
Good food, good service, nice décor just bit cold! The crispy belly pork are our favorite Garlic and chilli King prawns, crispy potatoes with garlic mayonnaise, chickpeas with Italian sausages and chicken liver also our love.
Really enjoyable, tasty tapas especially the sea bream and the pork belly. Even the flat breads were piping hot and fresh, and the friendly staff made sure our indecisiveness was no problem.
Tasty tapas. Plenty of choice for both vegetarian and meat eaters, they catered well of a large group. Service was great. Nice restaurant. Good value. Recommend trying the flat bread.
Lovely food with a good selection of dishes. The belly pork and halloumi were particularly good. Really nice atmosphere and good service. Would definitely go again.
The food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. Plenty of vegetarian options for my other half. It's a small restaurant though so don't expect lots of room!
Excellent food, great ambiance, reasonably priced. Byzantium is one of my 'go to' restaurants with friends and every time it's been a really good evening.
Excellent food we enjoyed the experience and would definitely go back again. We had a selection of tapas which were all very tasty. The waiter was very polite also.
Food was delicious and reasonable in price, wine also didn't have the 'mark up' that a lot of restaurants have. A comfortable place to eat, not 'glossy' but nice atmosphere.
This is a lovely, cosy and friendly restaurant. The food is delicious and plenty of choice. Prices are very reasonable. It's not big so book in advance if it's the weekend.
This is my favourite restaurant, which I have been visiting for years. The reason being the food is delicious, the staff are lovely, the place has a fabulous ambience. For a meal for 2, with a bottle of wine you are looking at spending around £50-60. Well worth it!! Highly recommend.
