The tapas were really good very familiar with the Spanish flavour. The local is good too with a lot of tables. And the waiter very politely with us. For sure it is a place to recommend.
Choice of food excellent as was the food. No complaints whatsoever. Service was also excellent. Will certainly go again with other friends and family. Thank you.
Excellent food and a very welcoming service. The waiter made good suggestions and catered to our every need from the start. While the restaurant was a little cold, we had arrived quite early for dinner (7pm), it did become more comfortable over the next half hour as more guests arrived and chefs began cooking. A very nice small restaurant with pleasing artwork inside, highly recommended.
Great little restaurant for all types of mediterran tapas, excellent food and very warm and welcoming service. We would go back anytime again. Thank you.
Slow service but lovely food - nice place but crowded
Lovely food and really good portion sizes. The pork belly and pinchos morunos were definite stand outs.Service was great as well! Would highly recommend it
Amazing food, good location and amazing service 👍 it's my second time visiting, I would highly recommend it and I will certainly be back for more.
Excellent service, great food, great atmosphere. Only negative is that the upstairs section was cold. I noticed some of the other diners with their coats on too! Otherwise a really good evening, thank you.
Great food really tasty and great service. We had a selection of meat and vegetarian dishes. Meatballs and lamb kebabs were great as were the patatas bravas with chipotle and mushrooms with mozzarella. Amazing orange cake for dessert
The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food tasted nice and there was a big selection to pick from. The Olives and dips tasted lovely.
Always have a great time here! Amazing and authentic tapas, with a wide variety on the menu for all tastes and everything was great. Thank you!
Very average, for a Saturday evening it was very quiet and lacking atmosphere. Some of the dishes were nice but the pork belly was cold as soon as it arrived. Sorry but I won’t be returning
A nice little restaurant. Food was good, service was excellent and the staff were friendly. A little bit pricey for what's on offer and the portion sizes were on the small side. Also, it's a bit cramped, tables almost on top of each other. Not the place for a quiet romantic meal, but overall it was a pleasant enough evening.
Lovely friendly small restaurant. All sort of tapas type foods. If you want paella, book 2 days before but plenty of other yummy foods. Belly pork was the best I've ever had!
Staff and food were lovely, though a little on the expensive side. Also no cider on the drinks menu, which was disappointing. Would go back, but with the price, only for special occasions.
Restaurant was busy and with new staff but the service was very slow, our order was wrong and the portions were small for the prices charged. Not up to usual standard and too many covers for the kitchen to cope with.
Great food, reasonably priced, with a great service in a lovely restaurant. Very impressed, will be eating there again. Possibly the best tapas I've eaten outside of Spain.
Friendly service but the dishes are very over-priced for what is received. The "meat tapas" dishes were around £8 or £9 but poor value compared with other Tapas restaurants I've visited.
Always enjoyed our visits, friendly helpful staff. 6 tapas +bread surprisingly filling for 3 people! Less than £20 per head too! We'll be back! Soon!
Food was delicious. We would have stayed for a dessert/coffee but the waitress couldn't get us out fast enough even though it was quite early on a Saturday night. Our change was also automatically kept as a tip which given we were made to feel unwelcome I found unfair.
Really lovely and fresh - wonderful choices and nicely done - good value for money. Nice choice if drinks and dessert - orange cake was really good
The food was excellent, but we waited over an hour for it, which was rather frustrating. The restaurant was pretty full and they just didn't seem able to cope.
Terrible service- took an hour to get our starter - flatbread which according to the waiter they could only cook one a t a time! Took an hour to tell us that our vegetable paella was not available. Completely ignored us after a main course so decided to leave rather than wait another hour for dessert which we weren’t offered anyway. Came downstairs to find restaurant empty so can’t use busyness as an excise for ignoring us. Food ok by will not be going back
Can never fault the the food here always fantastic !! Nice relaxed small venue that you can just forget the world and munch on yumminess !!
The food was faultless and the service was good. However, it was SO noisy there. We were next to a very large party (16ish people) but even so, I think it would have been very loud anyway with all of those people packed in upstairs. We were having to shout to have a conversation. We’d brought friends there who were staying for the weekend and I was really quite embarrassed because we couldn’t hear one another. I would come back but I think I’d insist on sitting downstairs and I probably wouldn’t go again on a Saturday night.
Lovely food as always, my husband and I took our kids and my mum and dad for lunch, everyone enjoyed it, friendly and attentive staff
Delicious food, friendly service, and a bonus glass of fizz for a birthday! It was my second visit and have had a lovely experience both times. The tables are perhaps a little close together, or maybe we just had loud people next to us...
Lots of lovely food nice drink prompt service and nice atmosphere. All the food was very tasty. Wine nice and good service all very good
This restaurant is great for good tapas, friendly service and a reasonable price. Only downside is that in the winter the heating is pretty basic and as the door opens straight onto the street, its not exactly toasty in there.
We always have a fantastic experience here so when we had friends to stay we had to get them to experience it too. All 4 of us being vegetarians we had so much to chose from and had a table full of hot, fresh, delicious food. I can't wait until I can visit again!
Delicious! Service was great and the food variety was perfect for a group with varied dietary requirements. I will definitely be coming back to eat.
The food is wonderful, the welcome warm and the bill reasonable - we had a lovely time at Byzantium. The only minor hitch was that I ordered peppermint tea and got normal tea, but it was so good I didn't mind and drank it anyway! I think it was just hard for the waiter to hear what I was saying. Overall though I would recommend this place to anyone for a great evening of food and drink.
A lovely Mediterranean Restaurant just off Kings Heath high street serving fresh Tapas, we had a delicious mix of Tapas that was very tasty. Would most definitely recommend Byzantium and will certainly go back.
We had a lovely lunch for two people on Saturday. We had four tapas to share and a couple of flatbreads. Excellent service and food- will definitely come back again.
Such a lovely place, great food, really friendly staff. Would definitely recommend. This was my second visit, it is about 30 mins from where I live but so worth the drive. We'll be back for sure.
Used to be a regular visitor and has always been my favourite tapas restaurant in Birmingham. This time the food was great as always, but it was the first time we have felt rushed to order, which was a bit off. Particularly as tapas is quite an involved ordering process.
As ever, there was a great variety on the menu. As there was six of us we ordered a wide range of dishes and enjoyed them all. Service was friendly and efficient and prices very reasonable. I would always recommend Byzantium to anyone.
Food and wine was perfect as always and service impeccable. Byzantium is a great independent local restaurant. Staff are lovely and always happy to help.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Wide ranging food & drink menu. Our choices were delicious & freshly cooked. We will be going again soon ....
Fantastic food, really attentive service. Langoustine and Pork Belly excellent. Can’t fault the flat breads and dips to start. Sauvignon Blanc and Gin & Tonics great.
cosy little place always great food, I would advise to eat early than late as the service is more efficient.
Always delighted with the tapas at this restaurant. On this occasion I and my friends enjoyed a lovely evening - the food and wine were spot on and we all commented on how good it was!
Excellent food, lovely place, etc highly recommend and not to expensive Prawns and flatbread with humus were so delicious that we are definitely going back
Excellent tapas, really fresh and tasty, in a cosy and relaxed environment. Can’t fault it, even boxed the leftovers to take away. Will be returning again
Fabulous Food!!! And Excellent service- the only thing that detracted a little from our meal was the door was propped open to let air in due to warm weather and because the restaurant is quite small even though we were towards the back, there was the constant smell of smoking from outside. Despite this I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be returning!
Fantastic food as usual but they were soooo busy! The service was impacted sadly - I’d still go back though as they know how to cook!
Wonderful staff, wonderful food at good prices. Booked online, but left it a bit late. Was fully booked upon arrival but they managed to let us sit in the back room. Which was great anyway as we had more room.
Excellent food - have been many times and food is always superb. The restaurant was really busy when we arrived however service was still good - waited 10 minutes for drinks and starters in about 15 minutes. Will definitely return - menu is also varied with several new dishes which we tried which were excellent
Lovely food and nice wine plus a relaxed atmosphere meant we enjoyed a very pleasant evening. Larger water glasses would have been better but otherwise all enjoyable.
Fantastic food, really very good quality. Great service. We (though I was the one who ate it as the only non-vegetarian) were given some pork belly to try at no cost which was really delicious, tender with great crackling. The flat breads aubergine and patatas alioli were really good, I couldnt fault the food at all. Our waiter was attentive without bieng intrusive, we couldnt have been better looked after. Really recommended for a relaxed and very good quality lunch. Also very good value for money.
