Nice venue, the food is good and the cocktails are wicked! Nice friendly atmosphere. Staff are great. Somewhere different to go to midweek. Really enjoyed it.
Last night my boyfriend and I went to Buster Mantis for the first time. I live in Deptford and was excited to see such a pretty space taking shape in the neighborhood. Our experience was excellent! First of all, there is an open and lovely chilled vibe to the place and the chosen music reflects that nicely (also, and thankfully, it's not played too loudly). The cocktails (lychee mohito and kukoomba) were super delicious and were served with a smile. It was obvious the food is made with loads of love. The flavours are spot on and with the perfect amount of spicy kick, where appropriate. We had both starters offered (mackerel pate (so flavourful!) and fritters (surprising light). The mains were exceptional. The jerk chicken is a must, as is the ackee saltfish. We both said we will be happy and sad once the rest of London finds this place; happy for the talented chefs and creators of this lovely venue and sad for us when we won't be able to get a table! Thank you, Buster Mantis! You did it and you did it very well. xx
Our friends were over from California, he's a chef so we wanted to take them somewhere Cool! Amazing service, delicous food! They even made us some spectacular Mock-tails!
It is a small nice place! Good food and drink at correct prices! The staff is very polite and the service quite fast! But most of all good vibes !
Delicious fresh Jamaican food served with juicy fruity cocktails. Great selection of beers, and wines also with a chilled out atmosphere and super friendly staff
Great place - the food is really good, the cocktails are fantastic and quite original. The service is friendly, not super slick service though. You should definitely go!
First time I've been here. Came for a meal for a friends birthday. Friendly inviting place. Staff were very polite, service was quick, food was delicious!!
Great atmosphere, great music and delicious food. Very reasonably priced food and drinks. Service not great - it took about half an hour to get our starters - and then they arrived with the main course all at once. I gave my card to the waiter as our food/drinks were on a tab, however when my friend tried to get a drink at the bar and put it on our tab, the other waiters wern't aware that a tab had been set up. That said, we still had a great night and the venue/atmosphere alone are a good enough reason to return - will definitely be coming back.
Nice bar in deptford. food was just ok (nothing special). didn't like that after 8pm there were still a few dogs in the bar (I think it's a dog friendly bar) especially when you're eating and surrounded by them. Drinks are good and strong.
Lovely interior, friendly staff and great choice of drinks! Cocktails particularly good but we also enjoyed local ales and the choice of gins and vodkas on offer. Recommended!
Staff were warm, friendly and inviting. Live music created a nice atmosphere for a mid week lime, but quite loud which made our conversation a little difficult to hear. Menu choice good, but, limited. Rum selection could be expanded to represent the wider Caribbean, venue would lend itself to being a rum bar with late night jazz sessions
Excellent food and service not a great choice of tap beers as two had sold out. Will visit again to see what they have new
The food is great and they have lovely cocktails! It's a lovely place with friendly people and staff. I will definitely be going again. Great vibes!
Our experience as Buster Mantis was overall good. I found that the place where you are seated to dine was quite cramped and not too comfortable. As its a new place there are lots of little tweaks that can be done.
Food was really good and the cocktails were nice and strong but service was only ok. We didn't know the system and were waiting to be served for a long time before realising we had to go up to the bar to order. You also have to pay up front for everything or start a tab. It would have helped for someone to come down and let us know how it worked. Otherwise staff were friendly and jerk chicken was delicious.
Really good rum punch and the food is tasty. Trendy place for relaxed social nights out. The young guy in the kitchen has some cool moves and was fun to watch.
Food was tasty but was running a bbq outdoor which didn't feel very restaurant.
Authethic Caribbean food rice and peas good need to check out slow pulled pork heard it's really good. One negative no need for carrots In curry mutton Rum cocktails the best
Great meal and vibe. More of a bar on Saturday night - but was first time there. Would go again - as is in quite a beautiful place.
As usual Busyer Mantis didn't disappoint! We went to celebrate a family occasion and we're delighted to see the addition of jerk pulled pork on the menu both with rice and peas and as a wrap. It was delicious! We enjoyed the jerk sauce so much that we even got a bottle to take home and add to our meals to continue the Busyer Mantis taste experience.
Lovely venue with good cocktail list and offering of Jamaican food. The salt fish fritters are a must have! Absolutely lovely. Music was great too.
