Excellent meal and very good service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wishing to have a great experience. All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our evening

Wonderful food and attentive service. Love this place. There was no problem using my taste card. The house red was lovely. We had a great date here.

We booked this restaurant based on previous reviews and we weren't disappointed, the place was packed it had a great atmosphere the food & staff were absolutely fantastic. We will be returning next we are in York

Originally booked for 4 people, but party was eventually for 11! Staff accommodated us with such grace and politeness - very good experience - food excellent.

I arranged a lunch time rendezvous to meet up with old friends, there were 6 of us. I knew they were open from 12-2pm. We arrived shortly after 12. We ordered and asked for wine and then for a jug of tap water. The jug came but no glasses. I asked for glasses for the water and they brought 2 glasses full of water!! At 1.45 the closed sign was put on the door and they stood around clearly waiting for us to leave, we didn't dare ask for dessert or coffee. The bill was produced without us asking for it and when we put our coats on, the door was unlocked to let us out. All a bit like Fawlty Towers!! The food was ok, nothing to shout about.

Awesome place. The servers were very attentive and polite. We ordered Lamb samosas and onion Bhaji to start and were very tasty for mains we ordered lamb rogan Josh and chicken korma which again did not disappoint. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely food, excellent service. My curry was a little hotter than I would have liked but I did go for a hot one so my fault but it wa still lovely. Will be ordering a medium in future.

The staff were lovely but the decor was not very Indian like and the food was very bland. Will not be returning. Unsure how it made it into the top 10 on trip advisor.

The food was delicious & looked to be freshly cooked. The staff were welcoming, attentive & smiling making it a very pleasant evening. Had a lovely bottle of rose wine at a very reasonable price.

There were nice friendly staff and delicious food. All dishes were flavoursome. Service was good and we had a lovely meal which all 5 of us enjoyed, including the children.

Great food, since our visit definitely my favourite Indian restaurant in York. Staff were very friendly and efficient, without being overbearing. We used our taste card effortlessly making it not only the best but most reasonably priced restaurant we have found.

The food was excellent and it's no surprise that this award winning restaurant will be going for three-in-a-row this August. The service was good, with the staff all being welcoming, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. One thing: if you are ordering the side vegetable dishes be warned. They are full sized plates so be prepared to order some and share. Looking forward to returning during my next visit to York.

Very welcoming staff. The food was great, and reasonably priced. The tables were a little close together, but that shows how popular the place is. Would like to go again.

We Always go here when we are in York, serves great food with plenty of choices on menu, great service at very reasonable prices! A MUST!!!

As always a gorgeous meal in by far the best Indian in York. Staff always warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely be back again soon

Food was nice but no better than average. Was given a room in the back which was right next to the toilets and when moved seat was still not much better.

It was small, a great atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and the food top-notch. I would definitely visit this restaurant again. Well worth a visit.

Loads of staff but you just feel like their main objective from the point of you arriving, is to get you out as quick as possible. In addition to this, (and having booked months in advance) after the first course, we were asked to relocate from the 1st floor to the ground floor as they'd had a large group turn up that they needed to seat! Food was a average bit note that their chicken tikka masala is overwhelmed with the flavour of mango. Overall a disappointment, after months of planning and high hopes, it turned out to be an anticlimax. Won't be going back.

Atmosphere and service were excellent the food was good (so this is not a complaint), but not excellent. Both starters and main course were just a little bland compared to the best Indian restaurants.

Really tasty meal temperature of the food on serving could have done to be hotter but this did not spoil our experience. Excellent friendly staff with great sense of humour.

We arrived for our meal at 17.30. The restaurant had just opened, however we were attended to straight away. We were given a table. Had a waiter present us with menus and asked if we wanted complementary poppadoms. These arrived straight away and we were asked what we wanted to drink. Drinks arrived quickly and food was ordered. When our food arrived it was served to us in a polite and attentive manner. We were asked at appropriate times if everything was alright with our dinner and if we wanted anything else. This was done despite the restaurant being full and very busy. Attention to customers was spot on. The food was fantastic, probably one of the best curries I had. I am a vegetarian and there was a good range of meals even a separate section on the menu. I would definitely like to return when I am next in York. Thank you

Very pleasant staff but very ordinary food. Starters ok but main courses (one veg dish and one chicken) lacked any depth of flavour. Not likely to return.

It was a Pleasant experience, good was good, service very quick. Was a busy evening so glad we booked in advance. Wife also enjoyed her food.

Food was excellent. Staff were excellent. Everything about the place was excellent! We arrived earlier than expected! Sat us down straight away and treated us like royalty all night! Can't buy the place up anymore around! Definitely worth going!

Had chicken biriyani, very bland, far too much rice (enough for 2), vegetable curry served with it was tasteless I asked if it could be a little spicier, the curry was returned with spices added and was far too hot to eat! Staff queried why I had not eaten the curry and after explaining they asked if me and my wife would like a drink each to compensate , which we accepted.

Food and service were both very good especially as the restaurant was very busy, turning potential customers away! Starter of chicken chatt and onion bhaji, chatt a little under spiced but bhaji was excellent. Main of Jalfrezi and Madras both good but the stand out was the nann bread very light and airy not at all stodgy like some.

A great restaurant with friendly and attentive staff. A varied menu with specialities and chef specials. Time allowed to relax and fully enjoy the experience. A great evening and one which we will be repeating.

Friendly welcome, friendly waiter and good, quick service. Starters were good and the mains excellent - we had a chicken dish and duck tikka masala, which was delicious. Could have been spicier but that's our fault for not ordering something a bit braver. Delighted to be offered a complimentary liqueur, so downed a free brandy and my son had a baileys. A super experience all round!

Food not that great, after reading good reviews on Tripadvisor me and my partner decided to go for valentine's day this year. We ordered chicken pakoras for starters and the chicken was that rubbery we where unable to cut it. I also had chicken korma for my main and it was so bland there was no flavour there at all. Cant fault the staff though they were very welcoming and lovely.

Excellent service & a very varied menu catering for all from the mildest to hottest curry. All the food was very tasty and freshly prepared.

Excellent food - all 7 of our party agreed - and superb service. This is a lovely restaurant with a friendly atmosphere right in the heart of York.

Disappointed. Visited as a result of seeing restaurant was an award winner and question how that was the case. Tired looking surroundings, poor service, incorrect order bought to table and bland, far from tasty food. Very rarely give poor reviews but felt appropriate to do so. Wouldn't visit again unless certain Lots had changed.

How wonderful to have our Xmas dinner at a favourite restaurant - great atmosphere friendly service as always and a cracker as well! Will be returning for more wonderful award winning meals in 2017

Starters were very good and tasty, however main a bit more disappointing as tikka masala was a bit to sweet and tasted less spicy than a korma. Good value for money with deal

Went for nye. Service was good considering how busy it was. However all four of us ordered 'medium' strength curries - none of which had any kick to them, very disappointing. Naan wasn't typical of an Indian but was nice. I would go again but would recommend ordering at least one strength spicier curry than you normally would!

Went in a bit early. No problem. Seated and served straight away. Food was great. Service good. Naan breads the best around. Complimentary liqueur with the bill sent us on our way happy.

Lovely food, good choice on menu, friendly staff and was offered a complimentary drink at the end of the night which was a nice surprise. Discount voucher enabled us to get 15 per cent off bill, bargain!

Enjoyable curry, good service, no complaints, busy atmosphere - would recommend

Curry was nice as was all other food. Seating was a little cramped but not too much of an issue. We had a waiter who was on only his second shift who was entertaining. At one point we asked for the bill and he asked if we would like one glass or two as he though we'd asked for milk!?!

Nice venue, good curry and Kingfisher lager on draft. Found us a table for 4 through quango - even though it was clearly a busy evening. All good!

Booked at table for two last saturday night. First visit to Bombay Spice and were mightily impressed.Execellent food and service so will be going back on regular basis
