Called for Sunday lunch having booked 2 weeks in advance - lovely food with good presentation. Friendly staff - great atmosphere, very busy and will definitely return - Thankyou
Ordered 2 steaks, one meal was completely wrong and we were told that to put the order right would be 20 to 30 minutes wait. With one meal correct we were not prepared to sit and wait for the correct meal to be prepared. We accepted the incorrect meal for which we were charged £4 extra. This was not really acceptable as we were the only ones in the restaurant. We will go elsewhere in future. Steve Dugdall
It was very nice food in a lovely and pleasant environment. Attentive and friendly staff. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.
Very very nice food lots of people in but this did not cause any problems to the service will be going back very soon brill place
Service was on the slow side, once the placing was order we waited 40 minutes. When I asked how much longer our food was going to be I was then told the "nut roast" which was order takes 25 minutes!! Which was not explained by the waitress when placing the order, the food was very good despise the poor service.
Hot, tasty, generous portions. Best Sunday lunch I've had out in a long time. The restaurant is lovely, both upstairs and down. Will definitely return.
Excellent meal - super service by friendly and attentive staff. Duck was superb. Only shame was the liver was not on the menu but the pork was lovely.
A very good menu with a wide choice, the result was a excellent meal well presented, served in very plesent surroundings served by very attentive staff.
First visit to The Blackbird and we found that it had a great atmosphere even though it was rather busy. Our part of four had different meals and all were satisfied by the standard of the food. We felt the menu was a little small with a limited choice and the main meals were only just warm enough. We will however try this restaurant again in the future.
We spent a very pleasant evening at the Blackbird - the service, food and wine were all first class, and on our experience we would certainly recommend eating here.
On arrival we were shown to a bar room table that was such a height as to require bar stools to sit and eat Sunday lunch which was totally unacceptable, we were then shown to a small table which was barely large enough to sit four people never mind the five that we had booked for, food orders were taken and the staff later informed us that there was a 40 minute delay to service. The table was too small to accommodate the drinks and the food so some drinks were needing to be placed on a ledge behind the bench seat, once the accompanying vegetables arrived it was difficult to accommodate these dishes too and the whole experience felt cramped. The waitress managed to pour the gravy from one of the plates she was serving into the lap of the guest she was standing beside. Not the best experience of dining and we will certainly be trying other establishments before trying this one again.
first visit and we really enjoyed our meal. the staff were very friendly, and the food was lovely. I had fillet steak it was cooked perfectly to my liking, wife had chicken, and she loved it. were never hurried between courses and the sweet was worth waiting for. will definitely be back. only one minor criticism if any, with not having been before and not knowing were restaurant was, we entered through a packed bar and had to push through one way then back again. but don't let that put you off.
Sunday Lunch was fantastic. Staff were really great. Highly recommended for families. This place is well worth a visit. Good choice of drinks, especially real ales and gin.
Very Good attention to detail and Good Food as well. Very Good Customer Service and getting People Served and Sat Dowan was good. The Range of Beers and Drinks very Good indeed.
The service offered by the maitre 'd was second to none, restaurants staff were friendly and attentive without being too overwhelming. Sunday lunch was beautifully cooked, most enjoyable afternoon.
Dined in bar area, quiet Monday evening with few diners/customers but order took long time arriving. Food fresh, overdone batter spoilt appearance on 3 of our 5 mains, but tasty overall. Staff showed more attention once food arrived - could have been more proactive in keeping our party aware of the lengthy wait. Understood kitchen had been recently extended, but resulted in long wait time issues, hope that will resolve soon as food was generally good in both portions & taste.
Good atmosphere and good food. Our table was in the tunnel room and it was cosy. Slow roast rib of beef was delicious. Recommend the red Shiraz - perfect. Will be back.
My starter looked like a work of art. Very attentive service from the time we arrived. A superb Sunday dinner and a great way to celebrate a family birthday.
We ate in the bar - cosy and nice atmosphere. Sunday lunch in order, very generous portions provided, food prepared to very high standard. Staff polite and efficient.
The Food wasexcellent and the waitress was excellent perfect service with a friendly manner. only fault was long waiting time for food but I realise that it was very busy
A goog sign - the [ub was busy. Our order was received within ten minutes - quite promising. Excellent Beef , Veg - particularly the parsnips and the Yorkshire Pudding was nice and crip.
First time at Blackbird, meal was excellent as was service, parking was a problem but to be expected on a Sunday lunch time, but will definitely be back.
After a fab experience the first time we were very disappointed waited ages for our food staff seemed to be in a muddle even the next table to us were not happy. We had our 83 yr old mother with us which was hard for her
Fab menu, fab food, lovely staff , excellent prices. Really enjoyed our meal. This is an excellent pub and we will definitely be back there is loads to choose from on the menu. The mango mousse with pineapple is absolutely gorgeous.
We dine at the Blackbird quite regularly and have always received great food and excellent service. My elderly mother who recently moved back to the north east to live always takes visiting relatives to the Blackbird to eat, she loves the gallery room.
Fantastic Sunday Roast, rare roast beef was perfect. Lovely wine & fabulous staff. Pub, nice & busy, so wise to book ahead. Will definitely come back.
I like this place, food is good but the service is slow. If they just told you it was going to take so long, but 45 mins?! Nevertheless I like it and recommend it.
excellent good service lovely atmosphere we would recommend anybody to go and try - i met a friend i hadn't seen for 47 years - lovely experience
Great atmosphere, lovely building and decoration. Fantastic food, very reasonably priced. Staff friendly, helpful and accommodating nothing was too much trouble. Well worth a visit.
The Blackbird in Ponteland is a fantastic venue for a meal or a drink, the staff are outstanding and the atmosphere is brilliant, highly recommended.
We arrived for our table at 8.00m, the time we had booked. We eventually received our food at 9.15pm, after continually asking where it was. The waitress was very polite and apologetic and we were offered a discount on our food, but the wait was unacceptable
Lovely setting and excellent service. Food is top end, definitely restaurant quality rather than pub grub. The children's portions are a good size and the bar staff know their stuff and very much involved in your drinks orders.
The food was good but the service very slow and the waitress failed to offer to fetch more drinks from the bar, top up the water jug or even bring the card machine over for payment (all of which we had to request after waiting patiently for longer than we'd typically expect to.)
We had an absolutely delicious two course Sunday lunch, it would of been three courses but we were to full, the desserts sounded fab next time will definitely try one, especially the almond panna cotta with cherry ice cream. The pink prosecco complemented the meal perfectly. We will definitely be back!
Nice atmosphere in the bar area but let down badly by very poor food. Ordered the prawn salad starter and it was literally a gem lettuce cut in half with a handful of prawns scattered around. Won't be back for food!
Served piping hot. Lovely vegetables and plenty meat. Lovely surroundings. Favourite place for a Sunday lunch. The service was very good. Will definitely return. Highly recommended.
Great food today at the blackbird. Majority of staff great, but could do with a little cooling in the restaurant area, hot day and temperature was through the roof
Excellent food, friendly staff with goo knowledge of food content. Good location with plenty of parking space. Definitely will come back in the near future.
The visit was disappointing, we waited for 10 mins at a table we had booked to order but no staff came. So we had to go to the bar and order ourselves. This happened with drinks, main course and dessert. The inn and room was almost empty. Staff just seemed to be chatting amongst themselves behind the bar. The food was nice though
The food was excellent and the service was efficient. There was an atmosphere of warmth and welcome. The menu was wide ranging and I have every intention of returning
Lovely pub, excellent staff and yummy food - not to mention an amazing selection of gin! Would definitely visit again with our family and friends.
Great pre-Christmas get together with colleagues. Good food, good service, good drinks. All together a great venue (upstairs restaurant). The overall experience was one we all enjoyed.
We had a great lunch at the Blackbird Inn. It was a busy Sunday lunch service. Staff were cheerful and food was lovely and reasonably priced.
Went for family lunch (3 generations) good range of high quality meals and lighter bites so something for all. Would advise booking a table as popular place.
Everything was fabulous! The food, the service, the staff were all top notch and we'll certainly be back! In fact the plan is to bring the whole family next time!
We all enjoyed our meals, a Dunday lunch. The Yorkshire puddings were a little well done, but the meal still tasted lovely. Would go back.
Very good overall. Very good food and very friendly service. If I had to find any criticism , it would be that the starters are perhaps a bit overpriced ; and the skinny fries, while very tasty, came with a bit too much salt on them for our personal taste. But overall a very good meal and we shall be happy to return.
Good atmosphere upstairs in the restaurant with large tables and comfortable chairs. Nice food and great beer. Very friendly and helpful staff, good efficient service.
Great food, beautiful decor and friendly staff. Have been to this restaurant before and every dish I have tasted has been delicious. Lots of free parking.
Buzzing atmosphere in historic looking pub. Because it was busy, service was slightly slow but the food was worth the wait, not massive portions, more about quality and taste. The staff were very attentive and friendly, will be back!
