Booked for Sunday lunch for 4 of us. Got a nice table in the bar area near an open fire. A result in this bitterly cold weather! Good attentive service received and the Sunday roast was very good. It was followed by fairly substantial desserts. Washed down by a couple of rather good pints of real ale. All in all a very good experience!
Our party of 4 for a birthday meal was overwhelmed by the quality of the food, wine and service. Every part of each dish was just spot on. The sancerre rose was amazing! We will absolutely be making a return trip.
Excellent meal.Excellent service. We have visited several times & will be doing so again. The treacle salmon was superb. The battered cod & chunky chips excellent.
Good, freshly cooked food. Goujons could be presented in a mor3 user friendly fashion. Service was good . Drinks very good quality and generally a good experience.
Went for Sunday lunch fabulous food and service as usual. Friendly Staff and for those who wish you can take your Best Barking Friend. Always recommend.
Fantastic food, perfect service and great atmosphere! Will definitely be returning again for Sunday lunch, a little hidden gem that I wished I'd know about sooner!
This is a first class Inn with a great menu. Would thoroughly recommend the food and the atmosphere. Will definitely visit again in the future.
Great food good service we really enjoyed our meal at the Blackbird. Would certainly recommend it to other diners. Food excellent drinks a bit pricey but staff great.
Absolutely brilliant cannot fault the restaurant the staff were excellent the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was friendly we will definitely be returning again soon.
Restaurant was busy service was excellent and Sunday lunch was good value for money. Staff although very busy were attentive, although it was not relevent for our selves there were lots of young children who were well catered for.
The ambience of the restaurant, the food and the staff were brilliant. The reason I didn’t give a 6 was that we were sitting beside the staircase and there were people passing by all night from a party upstairs. Next time I’d request a different table. We’ll definitely be back.
Excellent cuisine served by friendly and helpful staff. The whole place had a nice buzz and was very family friendly. Would recommend as lunchtime venue.
Lovely hot meal as always. Beef was a bit chewy today though. Always a nice cozy atmosphere and the best Sunday lunch for us usually.
A lovely little restaurant. The service was good, the food delicious. The only downside was to get to the restaurant we had to walk through the bar and the customers there were quite rude when they had to move to one side to let us through
It was my wife's birthday and we had a lovely evening at the Blackbird Inn on 15th January.. Our waitress was very friendly, pleasant and helpful and the service was excellent. The Food was delicious. My wife had Hake and Passion Fruit Tart to follow, I had Pork Belly and Bread and Butter pudding. Every dish was first class. I would recommend having a meal there to anyone.
The service was very good and the waitress was very friendly . The food was really good and there was a very good choice on the menu
Very nice Sunday lunch, with generous portions and a nice selection of ales to accompany. Sat in the restaurant area - very cosy and nice ambiance.
Food was fantastic but the bar area was cold. We asked to be moved to another table but my wife still ate her meal with her coat on.. lighting both fires would be a good idea..
Excellent meal in a lovely historic building - a perfect setting for a family gathering to remember what would have been our mothers 100th birthday. The food was tasty, plentiful and well presented.
Reasonable food but a bit overpriced. Staff friendly but service slow...... An hour before we received first course. After saying that we would go back. Atmosphere warm and cosy.
Welcoming feel to the attractive building although room temperature was a little cool when we arrived. There was a lovely choice of bar food and it was well presented. Iced coffees were served very weak but overall it was a nice place to be. Wish it was our local.
We had Lovely food, it was a good atmosphere and the staff were helpful and attentive. I would recommend the blackbird inn to others, looking forward to going there again.
Attentive service. Extremely helpful waitress who moved us to a more convenient table as soon as was possible. Helpful staff. Great atmosphere. Mind you, it was New Year's Eve.
Could not fault service or surroundings.Very welcoming . However the food ( I ordered a beefburger ) was very poor quality and did not justify the price charged. I have had beter beefburgers in Macdonalds for a fraction of the price. The beefburger was hard seemed to be overcooked , bacon also hard and tasteless . Slices of what appeared to be tomato added direct from the freezer was served togethger with a stale lightly toasted bread bun .The only redeeming feature was the battered onion rings which had obviously been freshly cooked unlike the rest of the meal which appeared to have been taken direct from the freezer from the freezer and not very sucessfully defrosted . It did appear that the whole meal was hastily put together with
We were 10 people and we all had a lovely meal. Great quality with excellent service - very impressed as it was one of the busiest nights of the year
Lovely meal, table was ready when we got there, no rush to get us out, meal was very tasty and service was superb as usual, will definitely go again
The staff were pleasant and the meal was not too bad but the room was cold and lacked the kind of atmosphere you would expect, despite a large Christmas tree. We got the impression that we had been pushed upstairs out of the warm festive atmosphere in the main reataurant. We would not "rush back".
We had booked for 4 people in the tunnel room but needed to add 2 more to the party. They offered us a table in the bar. Unfortunately it was so busy and noisy in the bar area we couldn’t talk to each other. It would have been better if they just said they couldn’t accommodate any more.
Wonderful service, food fantastic as always! Festive decor really suited the lovely old building
Superb food and excellent service. The place itself is beautiful inside and very different. The menu is seasonal and the Daube of Beef I had was amazing.
Food is good and well cooked. Staff pleasant and hard working Service is good. There are a lot of people in the pub so it can be noisy
Lovely meal although the main course was rather slow in being served. Also the room was not very warm, consequently i felt cold. Staff were excellent. Happy Christmas!
We go to the Blackbird every month I think it’s good value for money. We’ve never been disappointed, service is spot on and it’s always nice to be remembered
It was Lovely relaxed atmosphere, staff were excellent and attentive, food was gorgeous there was a very good selection on the Xmas and Al a carte menu's
Wonderful atmosphere, great staff and always excellent food. This evening meal was as good as ever but their Sunday lunch is, in my opinion, the best in the north east!
A booked party of 7 and arrived on time. Wait of 1hour for starters another 30 mins for main course after prompting. Rushed dessert. Unacceptable!
Great food , service and atmosphere. Varied menu with choices for everyone. Will visit again . Staff are friendly , efficient and know the menu well .
Great setting, fabulous atmosphere and superb food. Waitress and bar staff very kind, courteous and attentive. Sprouts a bit hard but that’s today’s modern cuisine.
Service was excellent, food was incredible! Staff were very attentive and couldn’t do too much. Beautiful setting, cosy and well decorated for Christmas! Would recommend!
Great pub and lively atmosphere with a pretty restaurant sparkling with Christmas lights. We had the chicken liver pate and tempura king prawns for starters. Both were delicious. They were not too heavy leaving plenty room for the main meal. My partner had the Duck and I had the beef burger with chips. Very good too. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. We will return!
Love this pub. Always busy with a good atmosphere. The Sunday dinner is one of the best I've ever had. Fresh , tasty and big portions!
Delicious roast lamb dinner. Fresh vegetables, fluffy roast potatoes, tender lamb. Good fish and chips. Nice serving staff who were smiling and polite. Reasonable price.
Delicious Sunday dinner with the family today. Simple kids menu which suited my daughter very well and the roast dinner was fantastic! Extra vegetables and gravy as standard! Friendly staff. Will be back!
Food choice is not huge but it’s all good. Plenty of gins to choose from. Staff are attentive and pleasant. Overall it’s been one of our favourite places to eat.
Great food, lovely location. Main courses were great value for money! Our second visit here, thouroughly impressed both times. We will certainly be visiting again!
Great food, amazing frangipane desert!! Really busy and noisy downstairs on a Friday night so if you want to be able to talk ask for a table upstairs. Great atmosphere though. Would definitely go again.
Great pub and restaurant , consistently good and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Food choices excellent, all very tasty.Very cosy on a winters night and a good vibe.
We stopped at the Blackbird en route to Newcastle Airport as we wanted a good tasty lunch before flying and we reckoned we would not get that at a reasonable price at the airport. Wereally enjoyed the food at the Blackbird- tasty and good portions. Service was also great. We will definitely return if in the area again.
We went to the blackbird for Sunday lunch and booked in advance. Our order was taken fairly quickly but we then had to wait 45 minutes for our meal-2 roasts. I thought after all this time that they would be fresh but they weren't, everything had obviously been cooked previously and kept warm. Nothing tasted freshly cooked, especially the roast potatoes which were hard and very dry. I can't understand such a long wait for food to be served from a hot plate. Nothing on the meal was particularly awful but nothing was nice either and the long wait was unacceptable for what was served, no apology or explanation was given for the wait. The table behind us asked for the bill after waiting too long for their deserts, they only wanted a child's ice- cream! The serving staff were very friendly, but let down by the food and long wait. Would not return.
We booked as a family of 4 for lunch. Great menu choice, fab food with excellent and friendly service. Lovely ambience. Strongly recommend. We'll be back!
