Excellent Sunday lunch, great friendly staff and service, good choice of food and drinks really great surroundings, plenty of space inside all round good pub and restaurant
On a Friday night, the bar area was extremely busy, providing a lively atmosphere. The pump room was a great room to eat in with lots of character. Staff were very good; but it's the food that would bring us back again. A good selection including some standard pub fare featured alongside more exciting options, both the lamb and duck dishes were simply fantastic and exceeded our expectations. Everything was very well presented and to top it all off, the sticky toffee pudding (of which I've sampled a few) was possibly the best I can recall ever having, it certainly had the thickest sauce! All in all an excellent meal in a wonderful place, I thoroughly recommend giving the Blackbird a try!
Excellent Sunday Lunch with good service. Was very busy so best to book in advance. Enjoyable seating area and cosy pub feel. Will definitely go back.
We ate in the bar and there was a lovely friendly atmosphere, The food was good and exactly what we were after for a relaxed lunch on a Saturday. I had a prawn sandwich and large chips which were very tasty. My fellow companions had burgers and enjoyed every mouthful. We will be back!
We received a very warm welcome and throughout the meal received good, friendly service. The menu choices were varied and the food was excellent - delicious and well presented. A very enjoyable experience.
Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere the only complaint was the lovely waitress was serving the whole restaurant on her own so there was often a long wait for drinks, ordering and food but that wasn't her fault.
Great atmosphere Lovely wine and excellent food The service was excellent and we even managed to meet a couple of friends there as well We will definitely be back
The food was good and the service was great. We asked for different thing than on the menu which was not a problem. The only thing that they didn’t want to do was split one of the sweets between two people,
A very enjoyable evening celebrating a family birthday, The food and the service was excellent, well presented and served, We have always found this to be normal standard during our recent visits and would highly recommend the Blackbird to our family and friends.
It was our first visit to The Blackbird Inn, my Wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the food and the service was first class. We will definately be visiting again in the near future.
All three courses were fantastic, great value for money and brilliant service from Emma our waitress, had a great evening can't wait to go return.
Upstairs room has a wonderful atmosphere with solid tables and comfortable chairs. Warm lighting and away from the over loud bar downstairs. Food as always was really well cooked and presented. Staff are young and helpful.
We had a lovely lunch today in the Blackbird restaurant . The venue was warm and inviting and the food was delicious. Staff are always helpful, friendly and professional .
Good atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, great beer. What's not to like
This is my Favourite place for Sunday lunch and a gin. Dogs are also welcome in the bar. Great place to chill out and warm up by an open fire.
Lovely food and surroundings, but there was a long wait for the mains; in fact our starters were brought out twice. That said, we would come back... and the gin menu is fabulous 😊
Took one hour for the fish cakes to arrive. They were cold when thry arrived. Not good. Ordered a g and t it arrived with all the tonic poured into it. Hoping for slices of ginger too given it was the ginger based gin instead got a lump of ginger. Which looked like a clove of garlic. Very odd. Not the experience I was hoping for given we were celebrating some milestone birthdays. Will not be recommending or coming back. Calves lovers were good though...
Great menu with delicious food combinations - goats cheese mouse and beetroot was lovely . Range of gins well worth the visit ! Highly recommend
Terrific Mother’s Day meal. Very attentive staff and the king prawn starter is to die for. Will not hesitate to return for Sunday lunch. Excellent
Service and food very good will go back again menu selection had a good variety Friends I was with, thought exactly the same as myself
The service was fantastic as always and the food was even better! The food was served very quicky and we will definately be visiting again.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Will definitely go again. Celebrating a special anniversary with friends. Totally enjoyed the occasion due to the excellent food and comfortable surroundings. The North Shields Haddock was superb.
We had a love family meal, the food was well presented, tasted delicious the staff were attentive and friendly throughout despite the pub being extremely busy due to the rugby.
Booked for Sunday lunch for 4 of us. Got a nice table in the bar area near an open fire. A result in this bitterly cold weather! Good attentive service received and the Sunday roast was very good. It was followed by fairly substantial desserts. Washed down by a couple of rather good pints of real ale. All in all a very good experience!
Our party of 4 for a birthday meal was overwhelmed by the quality of the food, wine and service. Every part of each dish was just spot on. The sancerre rose was amazing! We will absolutely be making a return trip.
Excellent meal.Excellent service. We have visited several times & will be doing so again. The treacle salmon was superb. The battered cod & chunky chips excellent.
Good, freshly cooked food. Goujons could be presented in a mor3 user friendly fashion. Service was good . Drinks very good quality and generally a good experience.
Went for Sunday lunch fabulous food and service as usual. Friendly Staff and for those who wish you can take your Best Barking Friend. Always recommend.
Fantastic food, perfect service and great atmosphere! Will definitely be returning again for Sunday lunch, a little hidden gem that I wished I'd know about sooner!
This is a first class Inn with a great menu. Would thoroughly recommend the food and the atmosphere. Will definitely visit again in the future.
Great food good service we really enjoyed our meal at the Blackbird. Would certainly recommend it to other diners. Food excellent drinks a bit pricey but staff great.
Absolutely brilliant cannot fault the restaurant the staff were excellent the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was friendly we will definitely be returning again soon.
Restaurant was busy service was excellent and Sunday lunch was good value for money. Staff although very busy were attentive, although it was not relevent for our selves there were lots of young children who were well catered for.
The ambience of the restaurant, the food and the staff were brilliant. The reason I didn’t give a 6 was that we were sitting beside the staircase and there were people passing by all night from a party upstairs. Next time I’d request a different table. We’ll definitely be back.
Excellent cuisine served by friendly and helpful staff. The whole place had a nice buzz and was very family friendly. Would recommend as lunchtime venue.
Lovely hot meal as always. Beef was a bit chewy today though. Always a nice cozy atmosphere and the best Sunday lunch for us usually.
A lovely little restaurant. The service was good, the food delicious. The only downside was to get to the restaurant we had to walk through the bar and the customers there were quite rude when they had to move to one side to let us through
It was my wife's birthday and we had a lovely evening at the Blackbird Inn on 15th January.. Our waitress was very friendly, pleasant and helpful and the service was excellent. The Food was delicious. My wife had Hake and Passion Fruit Tart to follow, I had Pork Belly and Bread and Butter pudding. Every dish was first class. I would recommend having a meal there to anyone.
The service was very good and the waitress was very friendly . The food was really good and there was a very good choice on the menu
Very nice Sunday lunch, with generous portions and a nice selection of ales to accompany. Sat in the restaurant area - very cosy and nice ambiance.
Food was fantastic but the bar area was cold. We asked to be moved to another table but my wife still ate her meal with her coat on.. lighting both fires would be a good idea..
Excellent meal in a lovely historic building - a perfect setting for a family gathering to remember what would have been our mothers 100th birthday. The food was tasty, plentiful and well presented.
Reasonable food but a bit overpriced. Staff friendly but service slow...... An hour before we received first course. After saying that we would go back. Atmosphere warm and cosy.
Welcoming feel to the attractive building although room temperature was a little cool when we arrived. There was a lovely choice of bar food and it was well presented. Iced coffees were served very weak but overall it was a nice place to be. Wish it was our local.
We had Lovely food, it was a good atmosphere and the staff were helpful and attentive. I would recommend the blackbird inn to others, looking forward to going there again.
Attentive service. Extremely helpful waitress who moved us to a more convenient table as soon as was possible. Helpful staff. Great atmosphere. Mind you, it was New Year's Eve.
Could not fault service or surroundings.Very welcoming . However the food ( I ordered a beefburger ) was very poor quality and did not justify the price charged. I have had beter beefburgers in Macdonalds for a fraction of the price. The beefburger was hard seemed to be overcooked , bacon also hard and tasteless . Slices of what appeared to be tomato added direct from the freezer was served togethger with a stale lightly toasted bread bun .The only redeeming feature was the battered onion rings which had obviously been freshly cooked unlike the rest of the meal which appeared to have been taken direct from the freezer from the freezer and not very sucessfully defrosted . It did appear that the whole meal was hastily put together with
We were 10 people and we all had a lovely meal. Great quality with excellent service - very impressed as it was one of the busiest nights of the year
Lovely meal, table was ready when we got there, no rush to get us out, meal was very tasty and service was superb as usual, will definitely go again
The staff were pleasant and the meal was not too bad but the room was cold and lacked the kind of atmosphere you would expect, despite a large Christmas tree. We got the impression that we had been pushed upstairs out of the warm festive atmosphere in the main reataurant. We would not "rush back".
