Tasty and well presented food without being spectacular. At £20 for 2 courses we thought it was a little on the expensive side especially as we both left still feeling slightly hungry. Service was slow which was perhaps understandable as both the pub and restaurant were full with diners.
Been to the Blackbird a few times now and we are never disappointed. Lovely, friendly and welcoming staff, great atmosphere, great place and amazing food. They are also very accommodating when it comes to our Greyhound and treat him like one of the customers. Love this place.
Visited on Thursday night -pub and restaurant extremely busy but with good atmosphere. Service friendly if a little slow but this was due to them being so busy. 4 of us wanted to order the fish cakes but unfortunately these were finished -disappointing . We ordered the burgers which were delicious although none of us liked the oddly shaped wooden plates -made the food difficult to eat. Overall though a very pleasant night and will return.
Excellent food and first class service in pleasant surroundings. I had the beer-battered haddock and my wife had stake and ale pie. Will be visiting again.
The entire meal for four was wonderful, a creative menu with ample portions of tasty food enjoyed by all. Staff are friendly and the service is great.
Efficient booking system , nice place . Good menu for adults and children , nice food , reasonably priced but have to say pretty poor service . Staff seemed pleasant enough but on another planet . Had to ask numerous times for things , seemed to wait an eternity for everything , I don't like feeling rushed but I felt as though I had to chase them for service ( apart from when they tried to take our plates away when we were still eating ) but then never returned for about half an hour .
Lovely and original menu, beautifully executed. Warm and welcoming staff and a really perfect dining area, quietly tucked away from the much louder and boisterous main bar area. The dining room was plastered and shaped like some of the nicest restaurant "caves" we have had nice meals in while visiting France. So grateful we had such a nice experience on our first visit, and while meeting up with family from all over.
Excellent food, very nice staff. It would have been a six if we hadn't had to wait slightly over an hour for the meal. It was just before Christmas though. A very pleasant experience, I have been before and will go again.
Our table was in the bar which I didn't realise. Took an hour for our meal to arrive. However it was very nice when it arrived. I was unable to have a dessert as our table was booked for 7pm and my lift was arranged fir 9pm and they had not arrived at this stage!
Lovely building, tastefully decorated to create an ancient but cosy atmosphere. Food is high quality pub food and there are some good wines to be sampled too
Food good, decent size portions and nicely presented. Service friendly and efficient. Would certainly go back again and would recommend it to others. Not posh dining more pub bistro style.
Lovely meal cooked just as we asked, great service, a favourite place of ours. Ponteland is lucky to have such a great pub right in the village
Quality of food very good. More like some top restaurants than a pub. Tunnel room is an intimate relatively quiet space. Service was attentive and friendly staff.
Food was excellent. But it was really noisy because the bar is next to the restaurant. So it didn't exactly make for the quiet intimate evening we were hoping for
Food was good, but they did try to squeeze us in to a table which had no room even my wife who is a size 8 could not sit down properly. We couldn't understand this as there were plenty of empty tables. We thought that we would have been up stairs but it was closed.
A lovely pub/restaurant with great character and attentive staff. The menu was varied, interesting and well priced for the extremely well executed dishes. We were a group of 4 people visiting the area and everyone enjoyed their experience at The Blackbird.
We had a half an hour wait but everything else was superb! The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was amazing!! Thank you
We were a mixed bunch aged from four up to eighty six, each and everyone of us enjoyed a lovely lunch with a happy professional service. Our family will return to The Blackbird.
The quality of the food was excellent although I do feel for a pub restaurant it was a little over priced , reasonable value but not amazing for the price
The food was excellent and the restaurant was a delightful room full of character. It would have been even nicer to use the Minstrel's gallery but this wasn't open during the week.
Excellent Sunday Lunch -it never disappoints. Everything tastes very fresh and well cooked. Staff are helpful and friendly. Busy pub with great atmosphere. Would recommend.
Lovely lunch, excellent food and attentive staff. Venue very clean and atmospheric. Plenty of parking too. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a relaxing good quality lunch.
We had a lovely meal and the chef was willing to meet specific requirements on an item, which was a big help. However, the mish-mash of chairs in The Tunnel room caused problems with us and other guests. I was not at all comfortable and another table kept moving round to find one the correct height for the table! To us it looked as if you had just gone to a sale room and bought a job lot of non-matching chairs. We were served by a lovely young girl, who was charming and helpful. On the whole, an enjoyable evening to celebrate our anniversary.
A tasty and well presented Sunday lunch. The disappointing part was the sirloin beef which looked good until you tried to cut it. Tough and chewy not really what you would expect. Good desserts.
We had a great meal in a lovely cosy environment. Very country pub feel. The staff couldn't have been nicer. We wil definitely be back!
Great location, ample parking, good ambience, warm reception and excellent service Good choice on the menus - well presented at reasonable Prices! Can't wait to return!
A little bit of a wait for the food to arrive...but well worth it. Both the duck breast and the pork loin were cooked to perfection and all the accompaniments really tasty too. We will definitely be visiting again!
First class food and service as usual, a little noisier than on previous visits.
The first time we have been to The Blackbird. We had a lovely Sunday lunch in an interesting historical room. Service was great and food was delicious. Huge Yorkshire and a big selection of vegetables. Very pleasant setting with plenty of parking.
Really good food and service but the noise in the restaurant remains a problem.
Booked for specific dining area, accepted then phoned to be told could not do have to be in another area.. ? Need to put telephone number for human being not machine
Despite a shaky start, our visit to the Blackbird was punctuated by delicious food, gracious staff and a great atmosphere. I recommend the Blackbird to one and all.
The food was good and well presented however it was the fantastic friendly staff who made the evening memorable. The Blackbird continues to offer a great atmosphere along with a great gin selection.
Good food, good service and a lively atmosphere. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The food is definitely better than your average pub grub. Worth a visit. The duck was delicious.
An interesting and varied menu. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The only disappointment was the length of time we waited for our first course.
Very busy place . Food excellent and service also . We were celebrating my husbands birthday and had a lovely day . We all had the Sunday lunch followed by cheese board .
Lovely place with great staff. I had beef Sunday lunch and hubby had the lamb. Both came with mash carrots parsnips and yorkshire pudding. Other veg including brocolli cauli cabbage and turnip brought seperate. All were delicious. Would go back again as thoroughly enjoyed.
The quality of the main courses that we had were excellent. Two of us had a duck breast dish that was full of flavour and my fish and chips was superb. The young lady that served us was attentive and helpful. No doubt we will be back
