Bird in Hand, Lovedean

We usually love the bird in hand but the service was terribly slow and the food wasn't up to its usual standard. Very disappointing.

Great visit. Friendly staff and lovely food. Could have been more on the cheeseboard for the price and perhaps a chocolate based dessert but apart from that, faultless.

Had a lovely visit however the table we had was a bit cramped. Staff and customers were often squeezing past us which was a bit uncomfortable whilst we were trying to eat.

Good service, menu offered a wide choice of options. Food was absolutely scrummy. The Mozzo coffee was equally delicious.

I am an infrequent but regular patron of this great pub restaurant. It has changed slowly over the years and is a little too busy to be really friendly when we visit but the staff are always courteous and helpful and food is always good. Last night we were pleasantly surprised to be accompanied by a live jazz trio. Well done for another enjoyable evening.

Always welcoming and always great food.would definitely recommend you try.

Two of our party of four had beef roast which was inedible and we know of at least two other tables who returned their beef. We did tell our waitress who said she would pass it on to the management / kitchen. We thought we might have been offered some sort of discount or free dessert but nothing was offered. The other two meals we had were both very good. Service wasn't the quickest in respect of table clearing and drinks from the bar were a little slow in arriving, having said this we would still probably return for another visit as it may have been a one off with the beef.

The Beef is advertised as pink but 2 of us had Lamb which was very difficult to cut as pink and chewy . While there was ample meat on the plate it ruined it for us and it was a Birthday treat .We also thought it was quite expensive for a roast .

My only negative was that we arrived at 12.15 and even though the restaurant was empty we were shown to a small table against a wall. This it itself was not a problem but as only one other group of 4 arrived it dawned on us that they must have known they had no other bookings. They could have used a little bit of common sense and sat us at a larger table to give us a bit more room.

We are returning customers and were very happy with the refurbishment and new menu items. The food was well cooked, portions generous and nicely presented. The staff were attentive and friendly. It was a lovely evening.

Not the best Sunday roast I've had in this pub, bland vegetables, dry roast potatoes.

Food was good, but not great, drinks in dirty glasses...

I have been eating at the Bird in Hand fairly often over the years and still enjoy going there with family and friends but I am not particularly impressed with the changes in menus and feel that it is trying to go too upmarket rather than being a country pub with restaurant.

Had to wait half an hour to get a table only when I asked how much longer that they found us a table service was slow and after ordering a dessert was informed that they had run out! On a brighter note the waiting staff were really good and friendly. As I paid I was told that they had been very busy and short staffed. Having been here several times I hope this was a one off.

The scallop starter was lovely, highly recommend. Great pub and nice atmosphere.

Food okay, no welcoming atmosphere, olives came minutes before main course, waitress nice person but needs to be trained.

The actual menu was much better than shown on line, with really nice specials board. Staff were friendly without being intrusive. All in all a very nice evening.

Service was slow and the waitress seemed uninterested - other tables with different waiter were getting told about specials, etc, whereas we were told nothing. The food wasn't that great. For what it cost, I would have expected much better presentation and the quality itself was mediocre at best. Very disappointed.

Booked a table for 7pm, people arrived after us were served their meals well in advance of ours, they did offer us complimentary drinks as our food was so delayed, when the food arrived, it was bland and uninspiring. Will we rush back, not likely.

We were offered a table in the middle of the restaurant - we didn’t want to be there. We were offered a table in the snug but as the night progressed it was a bit dingy - more lighting would have improved it tremendously. Xxx

The food was pretty poor, I ordered fish and chips and the batter was soggy, and the fish was tasteless. The atmosphere seemed nice though, more of a pub then a restaurant.

This was my 1st time to Bird in the Hand and l would definitely go again, the staff are very friendly and helpful, it is very fresh, clean and airy inside, plenty of room, and the food was really lovely we enjoyed our time there. Lovely pub to eat in

Lovely ambience, friendly and helpful staff. Food was quick and yummy! We were left to sit and chat all afternoon and didnt feel rushed in the slightest.
