Had a wonderful meal for my husbands birthday . Staff were friendly and polite. Well worth a visit. Atmosphere was relaxed and an open fire was most welcome.

Just had lunch at the Bird in Hand, excellent food with an imaginative menu. I would encourage other restaurants to be more adventurous with there menus, instead of the same old same old they all dish out.

Excellent dining experience from the ambience to food. Not the cheapest but the food was worth it. We were a table of 4 adults and all plates were cleared.

First time there since the refurbishment. We were a party of 4 for Sunday lunch NOT as a carvery! All aspects of our meal and the overall experience were excellent. The greeting at the door, the reserved table, the quick service of the basics (water, drinks) - all very professional and courteous, but also friendly. The menu offers great variety so all our tastes were catered for. One question about ingredients on one dish was resolved very quickly. Our starters all came at the same time: we all found the portion size good but not over-generous; they were all delicious. We all had different mains and everyone enjoyed the food and the service. All the dishes were nicely presented. Only a couple of us had room for dessert and we both chose the citrus bread-and-butter pudding. The dish itself was very pleasant - but it's not a rich, fruit-and-custard-laden bread pudding in the old fashioned sense. So just a slight disappointment on that score. The other couple insisted on treating us, so I didn't see the final bill. However some quick mental arithmetic suggests that all the dishes are reasonably and competitively priced, for the type of establishment and the high quality of service we enjoyed. On the overall ambience, we were pleasantly surprised. We arrived for an early booking, but the place soon filled up with a big variety of guests including some small children. Yet we never felt that there was too much noise - surprising given the hardwood floor. So all in all a very good experience, which we will repeat before too long!

Lovely ambiance, amazing food as per usual. Service was quick and efficient. The only slight issue was that there was a dessert option of a brownie on the children’s menu, my adult friend asked if she could have that for dessert as she didn’t like any of the options but the chef refused. Their loss as they missed out on making money from it!! Would definitely go back, even if they don’t give us brownies!!

The hanging Steak and the roast beef on the roast meat platter was a bit chewy and a struggle. The rest of the meat was good, although not much of it.

Lovely 'country pub' atmosphere with a modern touch. Lovely fire burning yesterday. Good food. Good service. Prices in line with most other places. Easy to find with plenty of parking. Would recommend a visit.

Wrong menus, slow service and lack of attention such as staff knowing the specials and soup were disappointing....staff polite and food tasty though .....think a few improvements need to be made before I return as it wasn’t busy on a Monday lunchtime so wouldn’t want to experience a busy weekend service !

We were quickly seated and offered dŕinks and menus. We didn't have starters but we're offered bread whilst waiting for our mains which arrived quickly. The food was very nice and we both enjoyed our meals. The service was very good and restaurant was nicely laid out. My first time at this pub and my only disappointment was not getting a Yorkshire pudding with my Roast Pork!

Great meal with attentive service. Will definitely visit again. The carpark was busy when we arrived but still found somewhere to park. Despite the busyness the service and food was faultless. Thankyou again.

Had the Sunday menu roast beef which was quite difficult to cut although it was cooked as described.Suggest it could be served with a steak knife as noticed people on the next table were also complaining they could not cut it. Dessert was served with a spoon only (no fork) which is essential with most puddings. Charged for two items on bill we did not have and did not notice until we returned home cost of these was readily refunded with profuse apologies after we phoned them.

Good food but I don't need to be asked every 5 mins if everything is all right with the food, or to be asked if 'you guys are ready to order'. Rather informal I feel! Handhelds not working in either ladies or men's loos and no paper towels in lieu of them.
