Bird in Hand

First class food. Absolutely delicious Sunday roast. I've tried many local pubs and none beat the quality of here. Small things like roast potatoes that are properly cooked through, beef that is perfectly pink, massive Yorkshire puds, great vegetables. A fine choice of deserts that have clearly been made in - House too. Lovely! . Service also excellent and offered with a genuine smile. Highly recommended. One small negative comment, the acoustics make ambient noise a little lid during busy periods.

Had a very enjoyable evening with friends. The food was excellent, with very attentive and pleasant staff. Have been before and will definitely be going back again.

Really nice atmosphere and delicious food as well! We had the camembert to share to start with, followed by fish and chips and ice cream with hot chocolate fudge sauce! Yum

Friendly staff. Opened new bottle of red rather than serve a glass from a bottle opened the previous day. Other staff friendly with my dog. Set menu food was excellent - meat balls and harissa prawns

Food was excellent. Service great. Bar noise a little too much at times - hard to hear each other speak but possibly because we were seated in between the main restaurant area and the bar/kitchen door.

Lovely pub with calming atmosphere. Food was presented and tasted devine. We had roast dinner and was ho we like it. Staff was friendly and always in hand. Will come back soon.

Absolutely delicious food, a lovely atmosphere, very attentive service. The Bird in Hand is one of my place to eat in this area. Also a wide selection of drinks and interesting selection of Gins.

I've visited a good number of local pubs from which I can draw a fair comparison from our weekly Sunday roasts. Delicious food and pleasant staff. Best Sunday roast in this area at the moment. Nice internal pub layout too (great beer garden in warmer weather too). Highly recommended

Friendly helpful staff and great food. We were very impressed at our first time eating here and would recommend. We were a group of 11 with 5 children 5 and under and they completely understood that the children would be happier with food sooner rather than later.

Went for a Sunday roast, the presentation meat and vegetables were delicious but the roast potatoes tasted reheated and were very disappointing when the roast cost £17! Great service as always though

Very pleasant experience. Food was presented in an unusual and enticing way. my companion had the roast beef which he enjoyed, I had the lamb but I felt it could have been any meat; It was quite tasteless, but the vegetables were tasty.. The desserts looked delicious when served to other diners but we just had coffees. The staff were efficient and friendly We will come again.

Made very welcome, staff extremely helpful, very good choice of food and well presented on the plates, we were dealt very promptly on arrival.would recommend my friends to visit.

Excellent food, but evening spoiled by large party of ladies having a hens night at next table. Should have located us away from the party. Difficult to move as we had already started our meal when the ladies arrived. Good to see them enjoying themselves but the noise was unbearable!

The meal was lovely and our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. There were two parties going on on the Saturday evening we were there but they were dealt with efficiently and it added to the pleasure of our meal.

Great food. Lovely range of gins. Only negative was having been shown to our table, it took 25 minutes before anyone came over to take our drinks/food order.

Took our American cousins for lunch on Friday the 5th they loved the food and the ambience the staff were helpful and as always the food was excellent

we went here for a birthday celebration for my daughter , staff where very helpful with making sure cake was taken and came out at the right time , food was amazing, and service was amazing would highly recommended

Nice place, quick friendly service, lovely food and a reasonable price. What's not to love! Liked that there was a set price lunch although the choices were not vastly to my own taste. Had Gammon, egg and chips + sticky toffee pudding. All fine. Some friends thought the pork belly was far too salty. Not our first visit and would certainly visit again.

We went there for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was very busy with families and couples of all ages. The Sunday lunch menu offered a good choice for meat eaters, fish eaters and vegetarians alike. The food was good and the service excellent. The waiting staff were very attentive. I would visit the Bird in Hand again.

Great food and amazing sevice. Very accommodating of my friend with coeliac disease, with a range of gluten free options on the menu, and a willingness to adapt some meals. Will definitely be visiting again soon and spreading the word! :-)

Sunday lunch time is a busy time but the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was tasty. It was good value and I would recommend it for lunch with friends.

Good atmosphere and had a fantastic meal choosing the fish off the specials board. Good sized portions throughout all three courses. Definitely go back again and would recommend to book as restaurant was full.

The food was excellent as always, did ask what pink Gins you had and was just bought a ‘white” one back which I didn’t ordered. Service was slow and a little haphazard. However the food made up for it.

Food and service were both outstanding. Only thing to improve is the atmosphere. It is just too noisy to enjoy a pleasant evening. Large group and noisy children in the restaurant and a lot of noise from large groups in the bar. Somehow the atmosphere does not quite match the food.

2 starters - chorizo & whitebait , 3 mains - seafood risotto chicken & pork belly - 2 deserts - chocolate fudge cake & ice cream with choc sauce - all delicious and beautifully presented. A good bottle of red and pleasant service too. Highly recommend.
