Music is was way too loud - food was great tho
Great restaurant! Everything is thought out to the smallest detail - it is clear that a team of professionals worked, in the interior, the kitchen, the service - everything is great
Ordered the burger and sweet potato fries as was assured they could do it gluten free. A burger arrived in two lettuce leaves and on asking they said it was because they didn't have any gluten free bread and the fries weren't gluten free. So had to wait another 20 mins for the risotto as needed some carbs before the marathon. Frustrating as I would have ordered something else if I'd have known. I had to ask for milk 3 times when my tea arrived, tea was cold by the time it arrived. Service was slow and poor in general, food wasn't great and definitely not for anyone gluten or dairy free. Too noisy to hear each other talking. Good selection of beers but unfortunately the food and service had massively gone down hill in the last couple of years. And to top it off we were questioned why we hadn't paid the optional service charge of £30!
Table booked for 5.30. People coming in after us with bookings after us got seated....people with no bookings got seated before us. At 5.45 we gave up and went elsewhere
Great service and a fabulous location for a pre-dinner meal before going to the theatre.
Music was a little too loud but the atmosphere was good
Great place to meet with friends to eat with a great atmosphere.
Great food! Great place! Great service! We made an reservation few days ahead but we were late due to flight schedule. The front desk lady managed to get us a table still among on the waiting, thank you very much!
Acceptable atmosphere but service is exceptionally good food are perfect as we expected (we have been here couple of times in the past) it’s our haunt every time
Good food. Some dishes were not authentic (e.g. Liège meatballs are not cooked with a wine sauce but with Liege pear syrup) but the twist might be tasty (I went for the traditional mussels and fries). Great staff allowed me to take my pram next to the table and I got to use the lift used for goods!
Food was good as always but unfortunately they gave me the wrong drink and I had to ask 3 times before I got what i ordered And by then i was almost finished with the meal.
this place had Lovely food, quick set and friendly staff
Food tasted superb, and atmosphere was great , definitely recommend
Very nice place with nice food an people. Thank you.
Not very good! We were there 3 times b4,brought our friends tonight and moulle marinere was awful! Very disappointed
Wonderful food and atmosphere. Wonderful mussells and food. Great service
Food was well presented and tasty -thoroughly enjoyable. The venue was busy and had a great atmosphere, with that in mind the staff were incredibly busy. I believe this effected the service we received. The average service hasn’t put us off and we would return.
Great place for a good night out with friends & family
This restaurant is a huge, cavernous underground space bench style seating. Some of the servers wear monk robes as a nod to the trappist beers they sell. The Belgian food menu specialises in mussles, but also offers a variety of meat based and vegetarian options. Food is reasonably priced, with large sized portions, and tasted very good. Service was mostly attentive, but got a little more lax towards later evening. Still, all staff were very friendly and engaged. I'm only deducting points for the loud music and uncomfortable seating, leading to a less welcoming atmosphere. Other than that, it's a great central spot for yummy food and a huge selection of Trappist beers.
Very good value for money. Staff is very polite and friendly. Food is excellent and comes quickly although a busy lunchtime on a Sunday. Recommended.
The food was OK. Service, was OK. We felt rushed at times and asked the waitress whether she needed our table, she explained it was policy to check customers were ‘happy’. Restaurant looks a bit tired. Sorry but win’t be going back.
Great atmosphere Fabulous beer selection The food wasn’t the best if I’m honest a little on the dry side and the frites were more like chips but staff friendly and quick
Great food, great beer, great service. Simeon our waiter was excellent, very friendly and helpful. We will certainly go again next time we are in London.
Great atmosphere and great food. We both had the moules frites, and were impressed with the flavour, all though the frites were a bit on the tiny side. the waiters were attentive and helpful. a great place to go if you want an authentic Belgian experience.
This is a great restaurant both for food and drinks. There are a lot of different options for food and there are even a few options for vegans. The beer is easily the highlight.
Great atmosphere and fantastic deals on the range of Belgian beers available. Recommend getting the sample tipple of three different drinks. Mussels are the best, great choices of sauces to go with them and taste amazing. Worth a visit to anyone in London.
Years ago, I used to go to this restaurant every week for years and only stopped going as I moved from working in the area. It has changed drastically for the worse. The worse aspect was the food itself; the moules were served with next to no juice. We complained and were served with another dish but the juce had simply been watered down. There was no mayonaise served with the greasy mass produced fries, to which when we asked for some was served on a plate of small dishes with the smallest amount of condiments inside. The table next to us, bitterly complained about the same issue and the server was so asstonishlingly rude, miminking their comments about the poor quality of the food and that he didn’t cook the food but just served it. We were given some shots on the house and some vouchers but I have thrown them away as I would never waste my time eating their again. I believe this review is for internal use by management and thus this is why I am writing it, as I would not want to hurt any business. Please do not reply and do not send any vouchers even if they were for a free meal, I only hope enough people complain before your restaurantt closes and the staff loose their jobs.
I have been going to Belgos for about 20 years now. It does not have quite the impact that it had all those years ago but it is still quirky and terrific value. Shame the monks have all gone now! The menu has changed (got more choices) too. I think it is a great place, but the noise level makes conversations very difficult. Also, the toilets - which were highly innovative - really need to be brought up to standard
Excellent meal and service, great atmosphere and we did not have to wait for the table. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a good meal.
The service and food was great and we had a really lovely time but the venue was so loud! The music was way too loud to be able to enjoy a chat over dinner. This is the only reason I rate it as 4 rather than 5
Great and helpful staff from hostess to the waiters serving, great choice of food and beverages, reasonably priced for the quality and quantity. Great atmosphere ! A must visit whilst in London !!!
What a great place! The minute you walk-in you know you are in a superbly positive environment with great staff and superb food and drinks. An absolute winner every time and perfect for parties.
Good food and lively atmosphere. Good value and selection for all dietary types. Bench seating can be a bit awkward to get in and out of, and some go round the support pillars reducing 'bum' room. Slightly disconcerting that hand washing area is on gents side of communal loos.
Fast service, amazing food and delicious beer, what more could anyone ask for! We shall definitely be returning. Is hands down the best moules and frites!
Very disappointing. Service awful - waited for 3 quarters of an hour between courses. We had to ask for our main courses - they seemed to have forgotten them. Then we are asked to leave because our table was needed - in the same sentence as asking us if we wanted desert. Mussels were very average - small and lots of broken shells and sauce had no taste (my husband had Thai and mine was traditional - but very watery and not well seasoned). Visited Belgo 20 years ago when we lived in London - but whole different experience this time. Mass produced, no atmosphere and staff didn't seem to have a clue - didn't even check on us to see whether everything was Ok with our meals. We will not be returning and I would not recommend.
Had a great night! Busy, but staff were so friendly and fast! Definitely be back again for more! Great food and ambience- lots of fun!!!
Brilliant food but the service is oh soooo slow. The waitrrsss was brilliant once she noticed us though! In the end I would say if they improve the service it’s a 5 star
Love the underground dining area and the food is excellent. Great choice of beers too. Lovely central location to meet with friends and enjoy a great pot of mussels.
Amazing food, the most friendly and efficient Spanish waitress ever! I work in the industry and are amazed as how smoothly they run a busy Saturday night!! Well done Belgo!!!
Very loud, food indifferent, although beer is good. Fries OK. Moule sauces all taste pretty much the same. The popeye platted moules was the most unappealing dish I’ve ever seen.
It’s quite loud in there but it doesn’t spoil the experience. The vast selection of beers, fruity or not, is amazing. Service was qick and friendly.
Good service. Food average. CoD was tough and overcooked. Mussels were good . The belgo burger was average, need some seasoning , rather tasteless. The price was slightly high but acceptable
Great selection of beer and food and excellent service for a party of 10. Would definitely recommend it and will be returning again very soon
Service is not as good as usual. Part of the item we ordered didn’t come until we asked for them twice. We miss kimchi mussels on the menu.
We truly loved grilled prawns for starter, and mussels in traditional and manière sauce. And I then finished the delicious meal with beautiful doughnuts following by camomile tea. That's a perfect lunch. The food always reaches out expectations. I don't mind going back to Belgo Centraal at anytime.
A very poor meal .. the mussels were disappointing & the sauce was sooo watery ..I am Ginny to write a letter of complaint . We arrived at 2pm & received our mussles at 4 pm!!! A most unsatisfactory lunch & NEVER AGAIN!
Fantastic food. Great atmosphere. The Thai mussels were to die for. Cannot wait to go back to have some more! I would highly recommend this restaurant
Very bad service. Staff were not organised and lack professionalism. We not only waited nearly 1 hour for our food but the waitress got our orders wrong as well.
Great food and beers, plus fantastic service. The mussels were great and the dessert... definitely go for the own dessert build option, extremely fun, especially for the son! Can't fault our experience there this trip.
Took some friends for dinner here and they really enjoyed their meal. The steak was cooked to perfection and the fish and chip portion was huge. We were provided some crayons and a coloring sheet for the child we had with us. The staff was very attentive. Always great to be here.
