Probably the best Indian/Nepalese food we have enjoyed, certainly in Shrewsbury

My food was a bit too sweet same as my husband's one. There also were too many "thank you" from the stuff for whatever reason and some of the waiters did not speak English well enough. They didn't even ask whether we liked food at all...

Really can’t fault this restaurant. It was my first visit and loved the food and the service. Meals and drinks for 4 people under £80!

Lovely restaurant, the food was fantastic and the staff were efficient, friendly and polite.

This is our 3rd visit in 5 weeks Food is amazing, sea food platter to start for 2. Followed by Lamb shank Rogan Josh, excellent A selection of other starters and main meals for my friends all very good Loads of staff all very professional The restaurant was full so booking is essential Will be visiting again highly recommend

It was a Sat. pm so being busy was to be expected. We also ate at a popular time. All things considered v. satisfied.

On arrival the place was in chaos...extremely busy, staff racing around and guests waiting to be seated. I overheard at least 2 tables complain about the wait for their food and so, given that our table wasn’t ready we decided to leave. Extremely disappointing as I’d recommended Avatar to my parents (usually excellent food and service) and was taking them for the first time. I’d booked over a month ago!

Starters very nice- chicken patia very disappointing compared to last time no taste to spice just a hot sauce. Same for my husbands lamb tikki masala.

Fantastic food, great service & lovely warm ambiance & decor. Good location in Shrewsbury town centre. Online booking system worked well. Definitely worth a visit.

Tremendous food, especially the Nepalese dishes. Good service. Linen tablecloths. Buzzing atmosphere. This restaurant is too good to miss. Been here several times and never disappointed

Great place as a curry house with a twist - an innovative menu of Indian and Nepalese dishes. I had the Venison Tikka to start,followed by a Chicken dish with parsnips - delicious. Staff were very attentive too. Will definitley revisit when back in Shrewsbury again.

Great food with a difference! A busy night so service a little slower but the wait was worth it. Still the same high quality of taste.

Not your average Indian restaurant. Offering a very different, and upmarket menu. Excellent food, and great service. Definitely at the top of my list, when we’re in Shrewsbury.

Excellent all round, great range of dishes, some tasty little starters including duck, guinea fowl, king prawns and beef and all our main courses were delicious. Service was wonderful too so we’ll be back soon.

Thank you for your care and attention when our friend was unwell for a short time- we think eating the chilli made him overheat. He is fine again now. Super meal and service

Regular visitor to Avatar and it’s the most consistently excellent curry house in Shrewsbury with a difference. Extensive choice of Nepalese dishes that are outrageously tasty. Take away service is also excellent! The staff go the extra mile to make every visit special.

Waiters are helpful and courteous. Food is delicious, beautifully presented and excellent choice. An asset to the Shrewsbury dining experience. Not the average india n food restaurant.

Located a few minutes walk from the River Seven Avatar offers excellent service, quality freshly prepared food presented in a fresh and pleasant environment. On street parking can often be found close to the restaurant or within 150 yards off street parking is also available. Finally, overall affords diners a good food experience.

Brilliant food, well-thought out and innovative. Excellent attentive service and always an upbeat atmosphere. The wide menu includes some very delicious Nepalese culinary recipes with delicate and balanced spices.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Food was good as always probably my favourite Indian in Shrewsbury but would like to see more vege meals without cheese. Shame they don't deliver.

Lovely food, sorry I like curry served in separate bowls so you can share and try other dishes with friends. The meals are plated up individually. Upon leaving they couldn’t be bothered to call us a taxi, even after a 10% tip (yes I regret that now but silly me thought they might bother to call a cab) and sadly the service wasn’t great that night, you were constantly trying to get their attention, understandably it was very busy but we seemed to be trying for ten minutes just to order another drink or request water. It takes over your evening constantly trying to make eye contact. the room became stifling eventually we got someones attention to ask for the air conditioning to be turned on - ah the relief! More staff needed at the weekends perhaps. If you don’t share food this is a good place for you, happily we like to try each other’s foods and the food we could not fault.

Interesting food with excellent choice of dishes and all well seasoned and cooked. The staff were friendly made us feel very welcome. Price was medium but felt it was good value.

this is in my opinion the best indian restaurant in Shrewsbury service and quality of food 10/10

The food is fantastic. The usual Indian dishes are on the menu bur also a lot of Nepalese dishes which need to be tried. The service is excellent too and with a varied wine list this makes Avatar one of Shrewsbury's best restaurants. Avatar is a restaurant we visit regularly and more than happy to write a great review.

This is top quality Indian/Nepalese food. We had a salmon tikka starter which was delicious. A Gurkha lamb and a lamb saslik to follow. Both extremely good, the lamb tender and plentiful. Side dishes of chickpeas/potatoes and a mixed vegetable bhaji also excellent, the latter containing a wide range of fresh vegetables, still al dente, lightly coated in sauce. Too often, a mixed vegetable curry is a sludge of over cooked frozen stuff. Definitely not here. Naans were hot, fresh and fluffy. Two Asian beers on draught and a very fairly priced list of wines supplied by local specialist merchants Tanners.

Food was fantastic as always and service was exceptional. I just love this place....it doesn't get enough credit in my book. 10 out of 10!! I will be back very soon xx
