We find this a cosy, friendly little restaurant, with good service and good value freshly cooked food. There is a Happy Hour early evening, which seems popular with youngsters and families.

Good pizzas and pasta at reasonable prices, particularly with the Happy Hour special prices. Service was efficient and friendly, and there was a good atmosphere.

Great food and service in a busy little restaurant that we really enjoy going too. Great choice and superb value at happy hour time. The chicken avanti and lasagne were both fabulous - the lasagne particularly good and the best I have had anywhere. Kids choices are great too and well priced. Overall a great meal in lovely surroundings.

Really good food and good portion sizes but slow service. Definitely would reccommend going but not if you're in a rush or have a time limit.

Lovely quality old style Italian restaurant. Really good value for money. I had steak diana. I thought the sauce could have been a bit richer but overall the meal was delicious. We will definitely go back.

The restaurant was unfortunately chaotic and staff seemed harassed, disorganised and unready for the volume of customers at the time when we arrived. We did not get attentive service - menus & food took a long time to arrive; we were booked for 8.30 pm & main meals did not arrive until 10 pm by which time we had lost much of our appetite! On the upside, the food was tasty and well presented.

Great meal fast service one of my favourite restaurants in Newcastle. It has a great family feeling and price is very fare for the servings you get.

Lovely place, delicious food, and great customer service. We ordered a sirloin steak at first, but when we indicated the meat wasn't good they directly replaced it with a fillet and new chips, which was delicious.

Really nice evening with good food and friendly staff. The place was busy( good sign) so had to wait 5 minutes for table to be prepared but well worth it. A glass of Amaretti with the bill was a nice touch too. Will definitely return.

We had an excellent time at Avanti. Very friendly and attentive staff. Excellent food and drink. Great value when you get the early evening deal. We both had the soup and then I had the risotto and my friend had pasta. We were both very pleased. Will definitely come again. :)

Lovely food, lovely Italian ambience, lovelynstaff. What's not to like about Avanti? We always have a wonderful evening here and we keep coming back again and again.

Great value. This is our third visit. The happy hour menu are great value but this time we indulged. The food is excellent. See you next time.

Good food and helpful staff. We enjoyed our experience at Avanti and will return before too long. The only negative was that they got the bill wrong but this was quickly rectified.

Had a lovely meal here. Service was a little quick between courses but the food was excellent. The limoncello spritzed was very nice. Safety would return.

Lovely Italian food in a friendly bustling atmosphere redolent of 60's New York, with pictures of Frankie and Dean on the walls and their classic tunes playing in the background. Good selection of starters, pizzas, pastas and mains and not overpriced. Staff very helpful and friendly. Not our first visit and certainly not our last!

absolutely lovely little place - very friendly staff meal served quickly and very reasonable prices - nice background music and low lighting - will definitely be back in the future .

Not as good as usual. During our meal there were a lot of tables being moved about to accommodate a large group booking. Some people were actually moved while having a meal. I wasn't affected that badly but the whole experience had a chaotic feel to it.

Good food, excellent value, friendly staff, good welcome. The review would have had top marks except for a very long wait between finishing our main course and getting the dessert menu.

This is a lovely little restaurant with a good atmosphere, very friendly. The food is good and reasonably priced. Near to Metro station for anyone not wanting to drive. Well worth a visit.

We visited Avantis regularly until we moved to London four years ago. Now we try to visit each time we are in Newcastle. It still is our favourite restaurant. Last night's meal was delicious. My husband said his calzone was second to none. Staff so welcoming and helpful which really adds to the occasion. I would particularly like to thank the chef as our daughter has a severe intolerance to gluten. He made her a gluten free sauce specially and was so helpful about her choices. We will be returning in the summer!

Top quality food perfectly presented. Drinks on the house at the end of the meal were a pleasant surprise.

Food was lovely, opted for the meatballs starter 2 meatballs covered in a spicy Napoli sauce with bruschetta to mop up the sauce and for a main opted for the steak stroganoff, again nice tender chunks of steak is a creamy paprika sauce served with rice and chips! Oh I wished I had enough room for a desert, next time!

Friendly and helpful. This family run restaurant is a little gem . After several years of living away from the north east it was a great pleasure to return to Avanti.

I went with a longtime friend. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and friendly. We both had pizza, I had the Marco Polo and my friend had a Calzone. Both were delicious and very reasonably priced.

Fantastic atmosphere and great staff who make you feel very welcome. The food is nice and very well priced. 3 courses and a bottle of wine for 2 came to just £55
