Inspired menu, quaint surroundings, and excellent service. A small and friendly restaurant that packs a big punch! I've been several times now and it has been great on every occasion.
An excellent menu which was borne out by the service and the reality of the food. We have been there before and will go again and again!
Great restaurant, fab staff and amazing food and wine. Can highly recommend. They even moved us to a different table as the conservatory was a little hot for the one yr old in our party. Thank you!
Great food. A good selection of beers including cask ales. Prices are very reasonable and the service was excellent. What more could you ask for?!
We had a really great dinner here. The food was very nice and the location is superb. Also, the service was incredible---efficient and friendly. My husband and I split the vegetarian platter, which was plenty of food for two people, and our entire table shared all of the desserts, including the cheese course. Don't skip dessert here. The banoffee Sunday, passionfruit mango custard, and chocolate raspberry tart were all really nice, and the cheese slate was lovely. I would love to go back soon.
GOOD FOOD AND SERVICE . GREAT BAR TO GO TO AFTER THE MEAL. AN EXCELLENT CHOICEOF FOOD THE LAMB AND THE ROSTI CAN BE RECOMMENDED!
Fantastic meal and atmosphere. Food cooked to perfection! Def go back!!
Food was rated at 5 - imaginative, well cooked and served for price. Service also at 5, smoothly and efficient. However, unfortunately they messed up my booking, telling me I had booked for Sunday (which I assume they transposed incorrectly). Since I did not have a device carrying the evidence with me, I accepted my fault and spent an embarrassed evening with my guests, having after some discussion been graciously offered a 'spare', usually unused table near corridor and kitchen entrance. Thus our evening was a little unpleasantly coloured. Lesson: Phone ahead and check all bookings at least a day in advance (which I usually do!) I have tried to find an email to conta
Another great meal at "A Room in Leith"! I have never been disappointed with the food here. Spoilt for choice with the menu, but finally decided on Shetland scallops with asparagus and garlic butter for a starter, plaice fillets on a bed of smoked salmon and chilli quinoa for mains, and a delicious salted caramel and chocolate mousse for dessert. Service was prompt at the beginning of the meal but slowed down a little towards the end, but the restaurant was getting busier. I brought my parents here, as I knew they would enjoy the food and the ambience. They loved it!
Excellent food, we had Sirloin Steak (one with Surf and one without) from the set menu each with sides included. Quantities were more than sufficient and an excellent wine list. The premises are sufficient in that it was possible to move our table to another quiet area when an office party of six noisy diners sat down next to us before we were served! We will go again and it was nice to have a pint of Ossian in the Teuchters Bar prior to going to the restaurant.
Have visited several times now and the quality of the food is consistently high. Choice of wine and real ales are good and reasonably priced.
Fabulous food and great service! Four of us shared a meat platter and a seafood platter. Both were excellent. We will be back again on our next visit to Leith.
Very friendly service throughout, excellent food, good wine list but BYOB an option, salted caramel and choc mousse to die for, fair price. We'll be back for sure!
Very quiet and beautiful place. We had the seafood platter and it was excellent . The waitress was very pleasant ad efficient . All in all, a great dining experience.
Excellent friendly service and the food was really good and exceptional value for money. We will be returning next , a great find in Leith.
An excellent meal for my partners Birthday! We had the sharing seafood platter which was amazing, because there was no crab left we got extra Scallops too!! Will definitely be back ☺
Fabulous location, great atmosphere, lovely staff and tasty food at a very reasonable price. Overall a fabulous and highly recommended experience. Should be followed by a drink in Teuchters 😉
This was our first visit to A Room in Leith restaurant. Reception was first class , shown to our reserved table without delay with plenty of space between tables. Staff were very friendly and fine choice of food on menu. My wife and I found the food to be of excellent quality and the price of our accompanying bottle of wine was reasonably priced. Overall, a great night out.
Lovely food and good selection of wines. Excellent value for money. Service with French twist really made the evening enjoyable for whole group. Will definitely go back.
Fantastic food! Fabulous atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyable evening! Such a good combination of dishes to choose from on the menu with a beautiful view as well. Try the meat platter...delicious!
A lovely meal in relaxed surroundings. Great food and fabulous service. An interesting menu with lots of choices and local produce. All well cooked. A great selection of beer and wine, including the fabulous draft selection available from Teuchters landing.... Would go again
Good food, nicely presented & lovely conservatory area to dine in. Bit noisy (Sat night) & tables a little tight together but all in all a nice place to go.
We have eaten at this restaurant before and enjoyed it .Service is very good and friendly and much of the food with concentration on seafood is very good.Lower rating is for three reasons: one main course just did not work -tattie scones with wild halibut could have worked as a starter but should not have featured as a main sweet course had three choices none of which appealed to any of us and very strangely they advertised a range of exotic teas on their menu but when we ordered a variety of different teas the waitress came back to say only one was available-very odd and unprofessional That being said nice people and other dishes were enjoyed by my party
A simple pricing system. Nice food. No stress or urgency making you feel like they need the table for the next customers. Very enjoyable. Thank you.
A sensible set price menu with good choices available and a well-chosen wine list, coupled with friendly efficient service in comfortable surroundings make this a great place for an evening out. Well cooked and nicely presented food at reasonable prices too.
The restaurant had a very nice atmosphere The staff were really helpful and my husband thought the steak was the best he had ever had
French bistro style decor and ambience. Couldn't fault the excellence of the service and food was top class, well presented and cooked to perfection. Comprehensive wine list with both budget and quality wines. Would definitely go again.
The food and service is this restaurant is excellent - I would highly recommend a visit and afterwards why not go next door to the great bar.
Had a lovely lunch with good choice of dishes, everything tasting great, with good combinations. Service was friendly and professional and the restaurant itself has a relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
Great meal and service really good value as well plus corkage is great idea as well nice venue handy for their bar across the road
Amazing locally sourced food. We thoroughly enjoyed the Cullen Skink and the Scottish Mussels Marinieres. Great wine list. Fantastic service. We will definitely be back!
Great food, with good service at a reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit. The Seafood and Vegetarian sharing platters are huge, and well worth trying.
Delicious food and generous portions. I had the black pudding scotch egg to start, perfect crispy coating and lovely oozing egg yolk when you cut into it. BYOB policy is another bonus (£4.50 corkage). We were rather forgotten about after our main courses were cleared, no-one offered us dessert and we had to chase a waiter for the bill, but not a big deal as we were too stuffed for pudding anyway!
Another great meal at A Room in Leith - I have never had a bad experience here. The menu was varied and food was delicious. Service was generally good, although we had to wait a while for staff to ask if we wanted dessert. However, we were in no hurry, so this did not really detract from the experience.
Fantastic restaurant, staff were remarkable and provided a wonderful experience. We visited with a 10 year old child and the staff were fantastic with her. Food was delicious - the Black Pudding Scotch Egg is out of this world.
As alaways an excellent meal and great value for money. The menu had a lovely choice of dishes. The BYOB option is certainly a big plus point.
Service by the waiting staff was excellent (as was the food) our experience at the restaurant was let down by the EXTREMELY RUDE Manager who came on shift at 5.00pm. He appeared to make the waiting staff nervous.
Great food and service. Bring your own bottle which helps keep price down. Food always excelkebtwirg dmgrear choices meet fish and vegetables also platters for sharing twhich are good value
Great ambience, really good food, excellent service. And a very imaginative mural and mirror! Certainly a place we'll be going back to. Pleasant location too, with Teuchters Landing across the way and Leith Harbour offering good walks and views.
Even we were 12 people, we could take a big table and enjoyed seafood. All of us were happy with the food, and our room was occupied only by ourselves, so that we could speak as laud as we wish. It was a fantastic night.
