The food was not bad, great service. The view outside was superb. But the restaurant is crowded, so make sure you book your seat beforehand.

There is a 3 course special. It is good value if you want to have 3 courses but if you just want to have a main it is quite expensive as mains are around £15. You get a starter and dessert free with a main but if you didn't want a starter and dessert that is quite expensive for just your main. The food is good quality.

Starters were quick.. too quick to be freshly prepared but ok. Mains -mussels and crab claws were good Restaurant seemed tired and in need of freshening the fittings. Bench coveings splitting and worn out carpets. Overall fine a reasonable value

Disappointed with the seating arrangements for 2 people meaning we were sandwiched between 2 other people on either side of us. This affected the ambience of dining out in a beautiful location. When we asked if we could have one of the tables for 2 at the side window we were told no and also we could not have one of the tables at the main window because this was for 4 people. Approximately 10 mins after being seated 2 separate couples were seated at 2 the tables for 4 at the main window, so is it a case of who you are? That depends on the seating? Dining out for us is a special treat and not a weekly event. Also the food was a little disappointing as it was not warm enough. I ordered the deep fried Brie for starter and it was not cooked the Brie was still in its block form and had not melted so obviously was put in the fryer and straight back out. So I would like to understand how a couple can secure a table with a view as this would make our dining experience worthwhile.

Menu choice for the £5 two course lunch was good and the vegan stuffed pepper was excellent however the steak (£4 supplement) was 'chewy'. The staff were good and the views excellent

Starter specifically read "Tuna fish cakes", i. e. More than one. My starter arrived with one small fish cake. I wonder how this squares wih Trade Description legislation.

The staff were attentive and knowledgable and the options and portions sizes for meat/dairy eaters were plentiful. Their offerings for vegan/vegetarians were very poor. No starter options on the menu, but they did make up a salad (small portion of rocket leaves and sliced pepper) and also no dessert option on the menu (though I was then offered lemon sorbet) and portions size, particularly of the stuffed pepper, left me leaving the restaurant after a 3 course meal still hungry. Further, compared to my meat eating family members, I genuinely felt upset at yet another meal out where the options for those unable or unwilling to eat meat or dairy etc. left me feeling like an unwelcome after thought.

It was OK. Not much atmosphere. The starter of brie and cranberry was average. My main course was crusted cod loin which was more like sea bass as it was very thin and the crust was not crispy. Overall, the dish was only luke warm and very plain with no veg on the side. Dessert of roulade was not how I imagine a roulade to taste and look - it was not meringue and was a bit bland.

Very disappointed with whole experience. Waited 50 minutes for meal to be served. Food was lukewarm and small portions. Noodles undercooked and veg raw. Wanted main course and dessert. Waiter said this wasn't part of current deal but he would allow us for dessert rather than starter. When came to pay this was not the case so paid over £27 for two very disappointing small portion lukewarm undercooked meals. Only good part was the jam and coconut sponge! Didn't complain at the time. Different staff at each stage from being seated, ordering, drinks, food brought out etc, therefore no consistency and made commenting difficult. Lunch was for a friends birthday so did not want a fuss in front of her, just wanted to pay and get out. When I got home to find an email looking for feedback I decided I needed to respond. I haven't eaten at 55 degrees north restaurant for some time, had really enjoyed it previously. Can't understand why it has changed so much.

It is two years since we were last here. We were staying in the area again and based on our previous experiences wanted to go back. But have to say since we were last found the food just to be like any pub grub now. The last few times we had been it was something special and didn’t mind paying for that but it’s really now basic pub grub ans at least the prices reflect this. They certainly aren’t overcharging for it. Had a lovely friendly waitress.
